Last Updated: 2024/11/05, This is a relatively small form of lotus, in addition to the relatively small shape, other places are no different from the general lotus. Some flower friends will like to see the lotus floating on a basin of clear water, so they want to see if they can feed the plant with sand, so can the sand feed it after all?

1. Whether or not

It's possible in theory. In general, as long as the growth of the plant meets the requirements of light, water, nutrition and other substances, it can survive. Here is a question, sand is just a simple particle, does not contain any nutrients, can it feed the plant?

2. Reasons

Generally speaking, this kind of plant culture is called soilless culture, which uses sand as the substrate and does not contain any soil matrix to cultivate plants. In this way, water and sand without bacteria are used instead of soil as the growth substrate of the plant. It is mixed with inorganic fertilizer as plant nutrients.

3. Advantages

This method can effectively avoid diseases and insect pests caused by soil pollution; the inorganic fertilizer added in it is tasteless, does not breed mosquitoes, and is very clean and hygienic. The leaves of the bowl lotus planted in this way are relatively thick green, and the flowers are many and large, the color is also very good-looking, and the flowering period is very long.

4. How to raise it

(1) soilless cultivation requires the use of suitable utensils, generally using a round glass tank for goldfish, and then wrapping the outside of the tank with an opaque layer of black paper or black cloth, and finally a layer of white paper. This is a way to keep dark, not only to prevent nutrients from propagating algae under light, but also to prevent the underground stem of the plant from turning green and affecting the bloom of flowers. If you don't want to be so troublesome, you can buy a porcelain basin or a purple sand basin directly.

(2) the type of sand can choose coarse sand, which is mainly used to fix the position of lotus root. When planting, you should first place the lotus root horizontally on the surface of the sand, and then put some sand on it to cover the whole lotus root. It is worth noting that the tail of lotus root must be tilted upward. Finally, slowly pour water into the basin.

(3) because the lotus root itself is nutritious, it will sprout seedlings and grow stems, and then grow leaves.

(4) however, as the nutrition of lotus root will be exhausted sooner or later, we should add some nutrient solution rich in elements, once a week.
