Crocodile turtles, also known as giant crocodile turtles, crocodile turtles, crocodile bite turtles, are one of the larger turtles. They are widely raised as pets because of their adaptability, non-picky food and miscellaneous eating habits. What do crocodile turtles eat to grow up? How can you grow up?

First, what to eat?

1. What do baby turtles eat?

(1) Edible food:

Young turtles eat mainly small fish. Dead fish, invertebrates, carrion and amphibians are their food. They also eat snakes or other turtles, and sometimes birds.

(2) Edible feed

After hatching for 3 days, the young turtles can be fed with a mixture of cooked eggs and millet. After about 50 days, they can be fed with chopped small fish, snails, clam meat, animal offal and leftovers, and can be transferred to cement ponds after 90 days.

2. What do adult turtles eat?

(1) Edible food:

Crocodile turtles are carnivores. They also eat carrion, small fish, crayfish, shellfish, fruits and vegetables. Individuals in the wild also prey on snakes and birds.

(2) Edible feed:

Adult turtles are fed mainly with small fish, snails, clam meat, animal offal and leftovers, supplemented with some soft wheat, chopped corn and vegetables, aquatic plants, etc., as well as vitamins, trace elements and calcium.

(3) under the condition of artificial breeding, you can eat fish, pork, beef and poultry offal, plants eat apples, vegetable leaves and so on.

2. Feed formula

(1) Formula 1: fish meal 38%, peanut cake 10%, bean cake 12%, rapeseed cake 5%, flour 20%, corn flour 10%, bone meal 3%, lysine 1%, multivitamin 1%. The crude protein content of this formula feed is 42%.

(2) Formula 2: fish meal 20%, silkworm pupa powder 10%, soybean meal 15%, corn flour 15%, flour 20%, bone meal 3%, peanut cake 15%, lysine 1%, multivitamin 1%. The crude protein content of this formula feed is 35%.

3. Feeding method

Starvation method

After 7 days, throw a few Loach and let him hunt for himself. If he can't catch him, he can have a full meal. If he can't catch him, he will starve. He usually feeds him with a normal meal once a week. This lasts for a month, and when you put your finger in the water, he will come to hunt for food. If the size is larger, you can feed a whole cuttlefish.

4. What if I don't eat?

(1) Food problem: crocodile turtles are carnivores and like live creatures very much. if there are conditions, it is best to find some small live fish or earthworms to induce crocodile turtles to hunt on their own. However, this is not absolute, fresh vegetables, melons and fruits are also edible.

(2) unfamiliar environment: it is normal for a crocodile tortoise not to eat food when it first enters a new environment. All it can do is wait until it becomes familiar with the new environment. If you are really worried, you can put it in a dark and quiet place to live for two days.

(3) temperature discomfort: the most suitable environment temperature for crocodile turtles is between 27 and 30 ℃. If the temperature is too low, hibernation may occur, and the typical manifestation of hibernation is not to eat or drink. If this is the reason, you only need a heating rod to heat the water.

Second, feeding skills:

1. Lighting

Crocodile turtles need sunshine. If they are kept indoors, they should bask in the sun regularly for more than ten minutes a day. It is recommended to keep it in the southeast where you can get sunshine for about 1-2 hours and provide shading conditions to avoid heatstroke.

2. Water temperature

The growth rate of crocodile turtles under the water temperature of 18: 20 ℃ is several times slower than that of the optimum water temperature of 30: 31 ℃. The tortoise ponds that are changing water or exposed to the outside world should be prevented in time in case of heavy rain or sudden changes in temperature to avoid the variation of water temperature more than 2 ℃.

3. Cylinder bottom

The bottom of the crocodile turtle can be covered with small pebbles or large pebbles, but if it is paved, it will be troublesome when changing water. Beginners suggest using a bare tank, that is, nothing should be laid, and no water plants should be put in the water.

4. Water depth

Crocodile turtles live in the water, the water depth is generally slightly higher than the depth of the back of the turtle, not too deep, no more than 2 times the height of the back of the tortoise, it is best to provide a stone above the water, so that the turtle can climb up to bask in the back.

5. Water quality

Crocodile turtles have more food intake and feces, even if they are fed with green feed, the pollution rate of water quality is faster, and more harmful substances are easy to be produced in the water body. Sprinkling and bottom application of photosynthetic bacteria can effectively improve water quality and reduce harmful substances.

6. Change water

Crocodile turtle culture tank water depth of 20 cm can be changed once a day, 30 cm can be changed every 2 days, do not change water for many days, do not make the water smell. Quicklime can be sprinkled every 7 ~ 10 days, and attention should be paid to cross-application with photosynthetic bacteria.

7. Feed

Crocodile turtles eat a variety of food, usually fish, Loach, meat and so on can be fed, formula feed is generally 1.5-2.5% of the total body weight of crocodile turtles, 5-10% of fresh feed. Feed regularly and quantitatively 3 times a day, and the range of food should be uniform and wide.
