Last Updated: 2024/11/05, The loose snail has high fecundity, high reproduction rate and short production cycle, and its origin is western France and Algeria. Loose snails are rare species of edible snails and are listed as one of the four most famous snails in the world. The main producing countries are France and the United Kingdom, while China is a big snail.

Snails with high egg production, high reproduction rate and short production cycle originate from western France and Algeria. Snail is a rare species of edible snail, which is listed as one of the four famous cattle in the world. The main producing countries are France and Britain, and China is the third largest producing country of snail. So how do you raise large snails? What should artificial breed notice?

What are the characteristics of large snails?

1. High reproduction rate: under artificial breeding conditions, scattered snails can lay eggs 3~5 times a year, more than 6 times, 70~200 eggs each time, more than 300 eggs, hatching rate of more than 98%, and each snail can reproduce more than 2 kg of commercial cattle per year.

2, short production cycle: scattered large snails grow fast, young cattle period of one month, growth period of two months, three months up to about 10 grams, to sell standards.

3, strong adaptability: scattered large snails can grow normally at a temperature of 12 ° C ~30 ° C, the humidity of the feeding soil can reach about 30%, and normal reproduction can be achieved above 14 degrees. The requirements for feeding soil are not strict, the disease is less, and the coarse feeding is well managed.

4, low feeding costs: scattered large snail food is more miscellaneous, all kinds of green vegetables roots and leaves, leftovers and so on are its good feed, a snail daily consumption of feed 0.5 grams, feed once every two days.

2 How do you raise large snails?

1. Feeding environment

The breeding room should be dark and damp. Snails like darkness, not because they don't need sunlight, but because they avoid direct sunlight. Such as: buildings, bungalows, basements, bomb shelters, etc. can be cultured. Each group covers an area of 1 square metre.

2, the breeding box customized

From all over the country snail breeding practice proved that: breeding box 40*50*10cm volume breeding species snail about 100, a group of species snail (200) can have two such wooden boxes, or according to the actual situation to order (wooden box selection of odor-free poplar, willow, birch is the best). Can also be replaced with plastic pots, brick pools, etc.

3. Requirements for breeding soil

Snails to fine river sand is good, young cattle can add rich humus and loose wet vegetable garden soil, but not containing pest eggs, more avoid by chemical fertilizers, pesticides and other harmful substances pollution.

4. Temperature control

The optimum temperature for reproduction is 15℃~25℃. When the temperature is lower than 7 ℃ above zero and higher than 32 ℃, it enters dormant state. Therefore, we must do everything possible to ensure that the indoor temperature is above 15 degrees, so that more eggs can be laid and economic benefits can be improved. Under suitable conditions, the snail can breed 3~5 times a year, and each breeding cow can produce more than 2 kg of commercial cattle per year.

5, ensure humidity is the core of management

Indoor air humidity should be controlled in the range of 70%~85%, and the cultivation soil should be kneaded into a group and dispersed when touched (this is a sign of 30%~40% humidity). 30% humidity of breeding soil is enough. 35%~40% of commercial cattle is best. The thickness is usually 800 meters.

6, feeding good feed is the guarantee of success

Snail is omnivorous animal, green feed: such as cabbage, lettuce, sunflower leaves, melon leaves, bean leaves, tomatoes, eggplant, etc.; juicy feed: such as all kinds of melon skin, fruit tubers, cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, etc. Then add some concentrate. Snails eat a wide range of food, but the food intake is small, a group of snails eat only two large cabbage leaves a day. Snails are fed once every two days, and commercial cattle are fed once a day. Feed is best placed at dusk.

7. Breeding of snails

Snails are hermaphroditic lower mollusks, in the case of sexual maturity of cattle, heterosexual mating, regardless of male and female, all lay eggs. After breeding cattle mating, about 10 days began to dig holes to lay eggs, laying takes 1~2 days. The eggs are collected and placed in a half bottle of wet sand for natural incubation for 12 to 15 days.

What should I pay attention to when breeding large snails?

In the process of raising large scattered snails, it is the key to success to manage young cattle and growing cattle well.

1. Keep the feeding box clean and hygienic.

2, to maintain a reasonable density, to prevent crowding, 2000~3000 per square meter is appropriate, and should be with the growth of individual snails and timely box.

3, to control the temperature and humidity, the temperature is generally controlled between 12℃~30℃, the water content of the feeding soil is appropriate to 40%.

4. Pay attention to ventilation.
