Yellow-throated water turtles, also known as yellow-throated water turtles, yellow-jawed water turtles, small golden turtles, stone money turtles, fragrant turtles, etc., are of great ornamental value, so what are the living habits of yellow-throated water turtles? How do you raise it? What are the breeding techniques?

1. The living habits of the yellow-throated water turtle

The yellow-throated water turtle in the natural environment is semi-aquatic, often hidden in the water during the day, less active, frequent in the evening and night, and sometimes landing and foraging. Spawning must be carried out on shore, and when bred into an ornamental green turtle, it lives in an aquarium (or tank) all the year round.

The hibernating period from October to March of the following year is the hibernation period of the yellow-throated water turtle, which is still in the water for as long as half a year. It began to look for food when the temperature was above 18 ℃ in April, and the peak period of its growth and reproduction was from April to October. The five-year-old male turtle weighs more than 300 grams and the female tortoise weighs more than 400 grams. The wild yellow-throated water turtle begins to mate from May to June and the spawning peak is from July to August. Female turtles lay 2 ~ 4 nests of eggs per year, 2 ~ 8 eggs per litter, with a maximum of 30 eggs per year.

Generally, from night to dawn, the eggs are laid in the relatively soft sandy soil on the shore, and covered with the soil dug out of the hole, leaving only inobvious stomata. The incubation time is about 60 days, and the hatching rate is 75% and 80%. The yellow-throated water turtle is an omnivorous animal based on animal feed, with a meat-to-meat ratio of about 7 ∶ 3.

Wild turtles feed on snails, clams, snails, small fish, shrimps and other aquatic insects, as well as grains, fruits and vegetables and tender grass.

2. Culture techniques of yellow-throated water turtles

1. Pond conditions

The culture pond is a conventional cement pond in the wild, with an area of 100m 2, a depth of 100cm and a water depth of 70cm. The top of the pond wall is protected against escape eaves, and the pond edge is equipped with fresh bait table, artificial expanded feed net fence, grass fence, sun back platform, inlet pipe, drain and other culture facilities. The water quality of the source meets the requirements of the national standard for aquaculture water.

2. Clear the pond and disinfect

Before stocking, thoroughly clean up all the sundries in the pond that have nothing to do with culture, and then disinfect them with iodine preparations according to the product instructions; one day after disinfection, the breeding facilities are arranged and injected to the standard water level, and the turtle species can be released after transplanting aquatic plants.

3. Turtle species restocking

The best size of turtle species is between 200kg and 300g, the stocking density is 6 / m2, and the turtles are disinfected with 1% salt solution for 5 minutes before stocking. When stocking, put the turtle species on the fresh bait table, let them climb into the water, and immediately use fresh freshwater fish to lure food.

4. Bait feeding

The best bait is to use artificial puffed feed and fresh fresh water small fish, generally feeding expanded feed in the morning and fresh fresh water small fish in the afternoon. If frozen fish must be thoroughly deiced before feeding, it is best to disinfect them with 1% salt solution before feeding. Artificial combined with expanded feed is required to be fed in the net fence, and small fresh water fish should be fed on the bait table, not in the water. The feeding amount starts at 3% of the turtle's body weight, and after the formation of eating habits, it can be flexibly increased or decreased according to the weather conditions and pre-meal eating conditions at that time. Feed twice a day, once at 7: 00 in the morning and 5: 00 in the afternoon. It is generally required to fish out the remaining bait 1 hour after feeding.

5. Disease control

Yellow-throated water turtles generally have fewer diseases, but because they are cultured in high density, prevention is particularly important. Disease prevention can be carried out by the method of "three sterilization and one feeding": the first is to clean the pond, the second is to disinfect the turtle before stocking, the third is to disinfect the pond water, and the disinfectant can be used to disinfect the aquaculture water body according to the product description. "one-throw feeding" is to feed with Chinese herbal medicine decoction every month. The traditional Chinese medicine formula is Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi 20%, licorice 20%, purslane 20%, tangerine peel 10%, astragalus 15%, Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz 15%, adding 6% of the total feed for 10 days, and the effect is better.
