For large-scale pig farmers, the phenomenon of pig fighting occurs from time to time, resulting in residual pigs, sick pigs, serious cases will also lead to pig death, affecting economic benefits. What about the pig fight? What kind of medicine do you use? Why is there a pig fight? What are the reasons?

Why do pigs fight? What is it caused by?

1. Improper feeding and management

The main results are as follows: (1) if the piglets are not trained to breast-feed in a fixed nipple in time after birth, it will lead to a fight for nipples.

(2) piglets should be grouped after weaning, and piglets with the same body weight, size and vitality should be divided into a group, and the number of piglets should be determined according to the size of the enclosure, and the number of piglets should be divided according to this principle before nursing pigs are transferred to fattening pigs, otherwise the group of pigs will be too large and uneven, and the phenomenon of bullying the small by the big and bullying the weak by the strong will occur among the pigs in order to compete for the order of the group.

(3) when feeding is not timely and water supply is insufficient, pigs will fight for food and water because of hunger and thirst.

(4) in addition, if the feeding time of the pig is too long, it will stick to the feed on the pig body, causing other pigs or underfed pigs to grab food, resulting in the phenomenon of pig bites.

(5) the exclusion of pigs is strong. When strange pigs are mixed into the herd, the smell of pigs is different from that of other pigs, and their sense of smell is very sensitive, which is easy to cause fighting among pigs.

(6) the appropriate light intensity is beneficial to the growth and development of pigs, but when the light intensity is too high, the pig's skin is prone to allergy and physical discomfort, which is easy to cause mental mania, resulting in bites.

2. Living environment

Modern intensive pig farming determines that the feeding density of pigs is too high. under such high-density feeding conditions, due to the breathing and excretion of pigs, the temperature and humidity in the house are too high, it will lead to the high content of harmful gases such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and ammonia in the house, which will lead to poor air quality. if the relative humidity in the house is too low, it will lead to too much dust in the house. If pigs live in this environment for a long time, there will be physical discomfort, resulting in normal physiological disorders of pigs, resulting in mental excitement, etc., which increases the aggressiveness of pigs and causes bites.

3. Feed

The quality of feed raw materials has a great impact on the health of pigs, when the raw materials are moldy and deteriorate, or when they are not fresh and produce other odors, which affects the palatability of the feed, it will lead to a decrease in the feed intake of pigs and the phenomenon of indigestion and chronic poisoning in pigs. pigs in this state will cause metabolic problems, resulting in pig bites.

The breeds and physiological stages of pigs are different, and there are individual differences among different pigs, and the demand for feed nutrition is also different. at present, a feed that fully meets the nutritional needs of animals has not been developed. under the multiple effects of the differences in feed raw materials, pig feed intake and breeds, it is inevitable that some pigs will have a lack of certain nutrients or trace elements. This is also the cause of pig bites. In order to supplement the insufficient supply of nutrients in feed, or to improve the resistance of pigs and ensure the health of pigs, some feed additives or drugs are often added to feed to achieve this purpose.

However, excessive addition of these additives, such as high-energy and high-protein feed, high-arsenic diet, high-copper diet, etc., will cause heavy burden on pig liver and kidney, even damage, body and endocrine disorders, and cause mental problems in pigs. Manic restlessness, etc., resulting in pig fighting.

4. Other reasons

In addition to the above reasons, when pigs suffer from trauma for various reasons, resulting in the fishy and salty smell of blood, or changes in the smell of body or urine due to a certain disease, they are easily identified by other pigs. and attacked by other pigs. Intensive pig farming is characterized by high feeding density and high-energy and high-protein feed, which can easily cause pigs to get angry, while the use of additives and hormones will cause liver qi stagnation and affect their emotions. it's easy to cause pigs to bite.

Second, what about the pig fight? What kind of medicine do you use?

1. How to treat pig fighting and what medicine to use?

(1) the tail of the pig to be bitten is thickly coated with fish grease ointment.

(2) spray 70% alcohol into the nostrils of the whole herd, once every 3 hours.

(3) disinfect the pigsty with strong-smelling Lysol or chlorine-containing disinfectant and spray twice a day. Or spray a certain amount of iodine and Huoxiang Zhengqi liquid on the newly grouped pigs.

(4) add 0.4% 0.5% salt and 0.3% 0.5% baking soda to the feed. Feed for 2-3 days, pay attention to adequate drinking water.

(5) add amino multi-dimensional or electrolytic multi-dimensional in drinking water (such as Weilikang) for 7 days.

(6) sprinkle some salt, or scraps and new bricks in the circle.

(7) place a ball for the pig to play, hang an iron plate and hang an iron bar next to it. Make Pig Gong play.

2. How to prevent pig fighting?

The main results are as follows: (1) to ensure the clean and hygienic living environment of pigs and give them a comfortable living environment. Keep the temperature and humidity suitable for the growth and development of pigs in the house to prevent the air in the house from being too dry so as to reduce the amount of dust in the house. In addition, the feeding density should be arranged reasonably, and the best feeding density is 8 to 10 pigs per pigsty. The area occupied by a pig is about 1.5~2m2 in summer and 1.2~1.5m2 in winter. This feeding density is suitable for the current intensive feeding mode, which can flexibly grasp the health status of pigs and make it easier to isolate pigs in time when problems are found. The feces and dirt in the house should be cleaned in time every day to maintain the hygiene in the house, and proper ventilation should be carried out no matter in summer or winter, so as to reduce the harm caused by harmful gases to pigs and reduce the probability of fighting among pigs to a certain extent.

(2) piglets should be trained to breast-feed on fixed nipples after birth, so as to avoid fighting over nipples. After weaning and before fattening, piglets should be grouped according to breed, weight, size, vitality, etc., so as to prevent bullying the small by the big and bullying the weak by the strong. Before grouping, in order to avoid fighting between pigs in different litters due to different smells, Lysol can be sprayed on the pigs, or mixed urine can be sprayed to disturb the smell in the pigsty and arrange to gather together at night. At the same time, before grouping, some additives are added to the feed to help the pigs digest well, and ensure that the pigs eat and sleep well, which can reduce the probability of bite rack.

(3) attention should be paid to the quality of feed and the adequacy and balance of nutrition supply. In order to prevent pigs from lacking certain nutrients, such as minerals, vitamins, trace elements, etc., appropriate amount of nutritional feed additives can be added to the feed according to the different physiological stages of pigs, so as to ensure the health of pigs, which can effectively avoid the occurrence of pig fighting, but should not be excessive. Otherwise, it will be counterproductive.
