Pig illness is a headache for pig-raising friends, but in the process of raising pigs, it is difficult to keep every pig healthy all the time. Pigs are sick and need to be treated. We often go into some misunderstandings in prevention and treatment. Have you been hit by these misunderstandings?

First, do not isolate, treat on the spot

Such a phenomenon can be seen everywhere in pig farms: a circle of pigs with marks on individual pigs, which is a sign of sick pigs, or pigs marked with injections. In fact, this is very dangerous. Most sick pigs will have a fever. Feverish pigs are generally infectious diseases. If such pigs are not isolated and treated, they will transmit the disease to other pigs, which is tantamount to putting a dangerous source of infection in the pigsty. The consequences are very serious.

Second, do not take your temperature

When the pig is sick, many pig-raising friends are unwilling to take their body temperature for fear of trouble, and then judge their body temperature by feeling. It is also easy to mislead others if they consult others in this way, even if they are treated by themselves. In fact, when the pig is sick, it is necessary to take the time to accurately measure the body temperature so as to roughly judge the direction and medication of pig disease. If you have a fever, infectious diseases are more likely and need isolation treatment; if the body temperature is normal and individual pigs have problems, non-infectious factors such as calcium deficiency and constipation should be considered.

Third, continuous high-dose application of antipyretic agents

Antipyretic agents are generally inseparable from antipyretic agents in the treatment of pig diseases, and they will be used in large doses and continuously. Some sick pigs with no symptoms of fever or some pigs whose body temperature has dropped to normal are still using antipyretic agents, which is a very incorrect practice. Long-term and high-dose use will cause leukopenia and decreased immunity in pigs. Pigs whose body temperature drops to normal should stop taking drugs immediately.

IV. Virus Ling treats all viral diseases

There are many diseases caused by virulent infection in pigs, and ribavirin sounds like an antiviral panacea, so people often use ribavirin extensively in the treatment of pig diseases. In fact, virus spirit can not cure viral diseases at all. The use of virulent in veterinary clinic has been strictly prohibited. Viral diseases of pigs can be treated with antiviral Chinese herbs such as astragalus polysaccharides, houttuynia cordata, andrographis paniculata, and combined with dexamethasone and antibiotics.

Only antibiotics are used to treat dyspeptic diarrhea

Diarrhea is one of the common diseases in pigs, and quite a few sick pigs in diarrhea are caused by indigestion. People often use antibiotics to treat this kind of diarrhea, and the effect is of course very poor. For this kind of dyspeptic diarrhea should be oral digestive drugs, such as rhubarb soda powder, multi-enzyme tablets, yeast tablets and so on.

6. Deworming a pig only once in its life

The incidence of parasitic diseases in pigs is particularly high, so deworming pigs is very important, deworming should be carried out regularly. Instead of deworming pigs only once in a lifetime. Pigs may be re-infected with eggs and develop into adults after a month or so, which may still be harmful to pigs, so pigs should be dewormed every 45 days or so.

Treatment of gastrointestinal infection with penicillin

Penicillin has strong antibacterial activity and little side effects, so it is a good antibiotic for the treatment of pig diseases. It is wrong to use penicillin for gastrointestinal infections, gastroenteritis, colibacillosis and so on. Lincomycin, berberine and so on should be used for treatment.

Use diuretics to treat dysuria

Clinically, pigs with dysuria and oliguria are common. In this disease, people are used to using diuretics for treatment, and one scene is used to bury urine for intramuscular injection. In fact, most cases of urination in pigs are caused by inflammation of the bladder, urethra or stones. Obviously, these urination is not caused by low urine production, but by poor urination. Therefore, the treatment with diuretics such as furosemide is not symptomatic, because diuretics such as furosemide are drugs that increase the production of urine in the kidneys, which should be treated with anti-inflammatory agents of the urinary tract, Chinese herbal medicine for the treatment of gonorrhea, or surgical treatment.

9. Use antidotes to treat sudden diseased pigs with neurological symptoms

There are sudden clinical manifestations of neurological symptoms: there are many diseased pigs with symptoms such as convulsions, circles, wild running, hissing and so on, because the symptoms of diseased pigs are very similar to those of poisoning, and people will mistakenly think that this is poisoning and treat it with detoxification. In fact, most of these sick pigs are not caused by poisoning, but many epidemic diseases (pseudorabies, Streptococcus suis) show a kind of neurological disorder. We should use diazepam, Naoyanqing and other drugs.

Think that the more vaccines you get, the better.

Some farmers believe that the more vaccines are given, the better, and that as long as a certain vaccine is given, the disease will certainly be prevented; others use antibiotics and other immunosuppressive drugs before and after vaccination, such as corticosteroids such as dexamethasone, resulting in immune failure; others do not have strict disinfection during vaccination, and as a result, the prevention of epidemic disease becomes a transmitted disease.

Seeing pigs vomiting is only simple to stop vomiting.

The main causes of vomiting are gastric ulcer, viral disease and TMel-2 toxin poisoning. Vomiting is only a symptom of the disease. Only by finding the primary disease and taking treatment measures for the primary disease can the fundamental problem be solved. Simple use of metoclopramide, vitamin B and other drugs, is tantamount to itching, it does not help.

XII. Pay no attention to the quality of drugs

It is difficult to tell the true and false veterinary drugs on the market, especially some low-cost veterinary drugs, you must keep your eyes open when you buy them, and you should not be so cheap that you miss the treatment of pig disease. If inferior veterinary drugs are used, it will not only delay treatment, but may lead us to the wrong direction of treatment. This kind of medicine is not cheap, but the most expensive.

In fact, in the process of prevention and control of pig disease, there are often all kinds of problems. Only by constantly learning can we give pigs health and reduce losses for ourselves!
