Fushu snail, also known as apple snail, is a common snail in rice fields, ditches, reservoirs, lakes and ponds. Its shape is similar to that of field snails. It has the reputation of "French snail". Its meat is edible, but its taste is not good, so it is not very popular with people. But it is still cultured in some areas. What are the breeding methods of Fushou snail? What's the difference between a snail and a field snail?

First, the introduction of Fushou snail:

1. Where are the longevity snails distributed?

Oncomelania hupensis is native to the Amazon River and is distributed in Taiwan, Hainan, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Jiangxi and other places in China.

2. What does Fushou snail eat?

Oncomelania hupensis mainly eats the buds of xerophytes and is mainly parasitic on xerophytic crops such as rice, Euryale, water chestnut, Zizania caduciflora, spinach and so on.

Second, what are the culture methods of Fushou snail?

1. Site selection and construction: where is it suitable for growth?

Oncomelania hupensis likes to grow in an environment with rich water sources, good drainage and no pollution, so when selecting land, it can be cultured in a pond with an area of 3 mu and 5 mu. Of course, you can also use cement to build a cement pool or pots, buckets, vats and other containers for breeding. After selecting the site, you can put some aquatic plants or bamboo poles on the pond or container to facilitate the female snail to lay eggs.

2. Incubation management: under what circumstances will it hatch?

In general, female snails will lay eggs when the temperature reaches 20-30 degrees after 3-4 months, and spawn continuously for two years. After spawning, they can grow rapidly when they are above 8 ℃, so the temperature must be controlled during the incubation period. The newly hatched eggs will be arranged into blocks, which will gradually change from red to brown after 4-5 days, and the young snails will hatch after 8-12 days.

3. Feeding and management: how much do you have to raise per square meter?

In general, 0.5 × 1g young snails can be raised in wooden basins with a depth of 3~10cm, and when they grow to more than 10g in 10-15 days, they can be moved to ponds or paddy fields in 50~100cm. When raising, the newly hatched young snails can be raised about 4000 million per square meter, 2000 million 3000 per square meter when they grow to half a month, and 20 snails per square meter when they grow into large snails, and with the rise of the water level, it can increase by 20 per square meter.

4. Feed feeding: what kind of feed should be fed?

The snail mainly eats the stems and leaves of aquatic plants, so during the feeding period, try to put some aquatic plants, green vegetables and other plant stems and leaves on the water. However, snails of different ages eat different kinds of fodder, and the specific foods are as follows:

(1) Young snails of less than 10 grams: mainly eat tender green vegetables, red duckweed and other tender plant stems and leaves, but also feed some fine rice bran.

(2) snails of more than 10 grams: mainly edible vegetable leaves, melon peels and aquatic plants. When feeding, try to eat less and eat more, so as not to affect the water quality.

Whether the snail is less than 10g or more than 10g, the feed should be distributed evenly in the water as far as possible, and it is best to throw it once in the morning and evening, and the amount of each feeding should be appropriate.

5. Water quality requirements: how often do you change water?

Fushou snail has a large food intake and a lot of feces, so it is necessary to change the water every 3-5 days so as not to cause diseases due to poor water quality. If you culture in a still water area, you will generally change the water in 7 to 10 days, and if you breed in a running water area, you will change the water in 20 to 30 days.

Third, what is the difference between Fushou snail and field snail?

First, the snail layer is different: the snail layer has 4-5 layers, and the field snail layer has 6-7 layers.

Difference 2, different producing areas: Fushu snail originates from the Amazon River Basin and belongs to large aquatic snails; field snails come from most parts of China, and are most common in rice fields, ponds, lakes and other places.

Third, the shell color is different: Fushu snail shell color is yellow; field snail shell color is bluish brown.

The fourth difference is that the vertebral tail is different: the Fushou snail's tail is flat and short; the field snail's tail is sharp and long.

Fifth, the snail cover is different: the Fushou snail cover is flat; the field snail cover is more round.

Sixth, the meat color is different: Fushu snail meat color is yellow-white; field snail meat color is bluish brown.

Seventh, the way of laying eggs is different: Fushou snails lay eggs on objects at a certain height above the surface of the water, and the eggs laid can be left on the attachment to hatch; field snails are oviparous and produce after developing into young snails in the mother.

Difference 8, the snail layer is different: the body layer of the snail is developed, the height accounts for about 89% of the total height, the spiral part is degenerated, and the whole shape looks like an apple; the body layer height of the field snail accounts for about 68% of the total height, and the spiral part is larger.

Difference 9, different snail shell: Fushu snail shell is large and thin, translucent; field snail shell is thicker, shell is hard, opaque.

Generally speaking, Oncomelania hupensis is easy to breed. As long as you choose a good site and make sure the water quality is clear, you can succeed in breeding. However, because it is similar to the field snail, you must pay attention to it when you buy it. If you don't know how to distinguish between the two, you can distinguish it according to the above nine tips, so you won't make a mistake.
