Honeybee is a social insect, and its life changes with the alternation of seasons, so winter management is the key point of keeping honeybees. The quality of winter management is related to the success or failure of bees overwintering, and also related to the reproduction speed and production efficiency of the Spring Festival. So what problems should beekeeping pay attention to in winter? Preventing bee theft is the key!

I. Prevention of bee theft

The most important thing to raise bees in winter is to prevent the phenomenon of bee theft, because there is no source of flowers in winter, and the Chinese bee's sense of smell is extremely sensitive, so it is very easy to steal bees in winter. A little mismanagement will cause bees to steal honey from each other and attack each other. Bring great harm to the colony, and in serious cases, it will lead to the destruction of the apiculture farm.

Bee theft can be prevented by shrinking the nest door, protecting the stolen bee colony, strengthening feed supplies, giving sufficient food to the bee colony, and paying attention not to drop syrup outside the hive, which may induce foreign bees to attack, while for bee theft, measures such as concealment and box removal should be taken in time to stop the loss in time.

Second, cultivate overwintering bees

In winter, the queen bee's spawning ability will decline, resulting in fewer and fewer newborn bees, and the colony will gradually age, so it is necessary to cultivate a new high-quality queen bee in time to replace the old queen bee with low spawning ability. worker bees are an important part of the colony, which is responsible for the feeding and collection of the whole colony, so it takes a lot of physical energy and usually dies in large numbers before the beginning of spring. Therefore, in order to avoid the decline of fecundity and productivity of the whole colony after the beginning of spring, it is also necessary to breed a number of worker bees in winter.

Third, heat preservation treatment

The temperature in winter is low, and the day and night temperature is extremely high, and the low temperature will freeze the bees to death, and it will also affect the feeding and activities of the colony. Under the condition of low temperature, the bees will increase their body temperature to resist the severe cold, resulting in a large amount of feed consumption. Therefore, attention should be paid to heat preservation measures in winter, and beekeeping grounds should be kept away from flower sources, so as to prevent bees from freezing to death when collecting honey.

IV. Overwintering feed

There are very few flowers in winter, and if the food of bees can not be replenished in time, a large number of reserved honey sources will be consumed. at this time, it is necessary to artificially supplement feed, generally choose high-quality but non-crystalline feed, and then add some disease-preventing drugs to prevent diseases. Honey can be used to make syrup with white sugar as feed, and the feed should be kept clean and strictly prevent oil mixing.

If you choose to use honey as overwintering feed, you only need to mix 50kg honey with 3-4 liters of water and heat it to 70 degrees until it dissolves into crystals. If you choose white sugar as feed, first boil 30 liters of water, then add 50kg white sugar, after the white sugar is dissolved, heat to 100 degrees, remove and cool.

The above is the introduction of the management measures of beekeeping in winter by Tuliu. in order for honeybees to survive the winter safely, it is necessary to cultivate overwintering bees in time, prevent bee theft, keep warm and prepare sufficient overwintering feed.
