Every April or so, there will be a large number of butterflies in the flowers, grass and pastoral edges, which are very beautiful, and many people will specially catch them and raise them. How to raise butterflies? What's the difference from a moth?

First, butterfly introduction:

1. What kinds of butterflies are there?

There are many species of butterflies. There are about 14000 species in China, while there are 1200 species in China. According to families and genera, they can be divided into pink butterfly family, grey butterfly family, reins butterfly family, eye butterfly family, ring butterfly family, gray butterfly family, reins butterfly family, flash butterfly family, sleeve butterfly family, big butterfly family, butterfly family and so on. Among them, red belt sleeve butterfly, owl ring butterfly, withered leaf butterfly, 88 multi-vortex butterfly, wide-striped black-veined butterfly, old leopard butterfly and blue flash butterfly are the most beautiful species of all butterflies.

2. Is butterfly a beneficial insect or a pest?

It is difficult to say whether butterflies are beneficial insects or pests, because butterflies are pests in the larval stage and beneficial insects in the adult stage. In the larval stage, butterflies mainly eat plants and transmit pollen to plants when they reach the adult stage, but there are also butterflies that harm the growth of crops, such as cabbage, rice butterflies and rice eyebrow butterflies. Citrus butterflies mainly damage citrus, camphor butterflies mainly damage camphor trees, so whether they are beneficial insects or pests depends on what kind of butterflies they are.

Second, how to raise butterflies?

1. Site selection and construction: where is it suitable to grow?

Butterflies are suitable for growing in humid areas with plenty of light, deep and fertile soil and good ventilation, but because they absorb pollen and plant flesh, they should try to cultivate them in humid areas far away from vegetable gardens or orchards. After selecting the site, use wooden strips to make a cage that is 2 meters long, 2 meters wide and 1.8 meters high, and surround it with a nylon net to prevent escape.

2. Incubation: how to hatch?

There are many kinds of butterflies, so try to buy them from local special breeding units when selecting species, and then put some leaves or branches in the cage to let them lay eggs. If you catch it yourself, you should pay attention to male and female pairing, provide a spawning place according to the butterfly's growth habits, and increase indoor humidity, which will increase the spawning rate.

3. Feeding requirements: what is good to eat?

Butterflies mainly feed on pollen, so during the breeding period, they can provide some liquid feed such as syrup, honey and milk to ensure that their food is adequate. However, if the butterfly is farmed, it needs to be mixed and fed with dry yeast, glucose, sucrose, cabbage leaves and so on. If there are conditions, you can raise some Umbelliferae flowers in the field to ensure that there is enough pollen.

4. Culture density: how much is good?

After laying eggs, butterflies will gradually grow up with the growth time, so it is necessary to control the feeding density to prevent killing each other. The exact amount of a square meter depends on how big the butterfly is, as long as it is not too dense.

What's the difference between a butterfly and a moth?

First, the way of flying is different: butterflies generally fly during the day; moths fly day and night.

Second, the color is different: butterflies have a variety of colors, and moths are mostly black or brown.

Third, the appearance is different: the phosphorus powder on the butterfly's wings is shiny and bright, and the surface is not plush, but some parts have obvious plush, but few, in addition, there are inflated rod-shaped antennae at the top; moth body cadres are densely covered, the tip of the antennae is needle-like, and the whole antennae is feathery, of course, some moths have antennae similar to butterflies in daytime activities, but there are few cases.

Generally speaking, butterflies are easy to breed and can grow well as long as they are well hatched and fed. In addition, although butterflies are similar to moths, there are some differences in color and shape between them, so we must pay attention to them when catching.
