Leeches, also known as leeches, make a living by absorbing blood and preying on small animals. after processing, they are a kind of valuable traditional Chinese medicine, and artificial breeding has sprung up in recent years. So, what breeding techniques do leeches have? Let's get to know it together.

I. site construction

Choose to build the pool where it is convenient to avoid the wind and the sun, the ridge around the pool is 1.8m high and the water depth is 1m. The area should be determined according to the feeding quantity. Generally, 6-100000 young leeches can be released on the water surface per mu, and the pond is diagonally equipped with inlets and drains. In order to facilitate the habitat and spawning of leeches, irregular stones or branches can be placed at the bottom of the pool. 5-8 terraces 20 cm above the horizontal level should be built in the pool, and each platform is about 1 square meter. The pool ridge should also be set up to prevent escape ditches, which are made of bricks, with a width of 12 cm and a height of 8 cm. When it rains, a dense net is used to live or sprinkle some lime in the ditch to prevent escape.

2. Planting and stocking

The source of leech seedlings can be caught, purchased or propagated. At the beginning of breeding, it is generally based on natural capture, and it can also be purchased from relevant units. Artificial breeding is better with money leeches, with large size and high yield, that is, the so-called "cow leeches" in rural areas. Herding cattle often climb on cattle to suck blood, and attention should be paid to identification when capturing and breeding. Leeches are hermaphroditic and hermaphroditic, and each leech can lay eggs and reproduce. It is appropriate to release it in early spring. In early spring, it can be grown, processed and sold in October.

III. Reproductive management

1. Build breeding ponds

The area of the pool had better be about 30 square meters, with a square of 5 × 5 meters or 6 × 6 meters, with a platform of 1-1.5 meters near the pool wall, with a water surface in the middle, with a water depth of 50 centimeters, and the platform is 2 cm high above the water surface. The platform should be made of loose sandy soil with high humus content, which is convenient for leeches to drill holes. Yellow clay should not be used, and overflow should be set on the platform to prevent Rain Water from flooding the platform and causing breeding failure.

2. Selection of leeches.

For breeding and breeding horse leeches, they should be more than 2 years old, weigh about 30 grams, physically strong, lively and active, and quickly shrink into a ball when touched by their hands. Such leeches have a large number of eggs and a high hatching rate. The amount of leeches released according to the land area of the platform in the pool is generally about 1.5 kg per square meter, and the water quality should be kept thick after the leeches enter the pond, and there should be sufficient plankton and snail lions for them to feed. To increase reproduction.

3. Reproduction management

In the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the time for leeches to lay eggs and cocoons begins in early May and lasts until mid-June, with the peak of reproduction in mid-May. The spawning cocoon period should be quiet and avoid moving and shaking on the bank, otherwise the leeches that are laying egg cocoons will be frightened and run away, resulting in empty cocoons and reproductive failure.

4. Incubation management

After the leech spawning cocoon, the leech can be collected and reared or processed in another pond, and the breeding pool is also used as an incubator, and the egg cocoon allows it to hatch naturally in the cave channel. About 11-15 days after the egg cocoon is produced, the young leeches hatch. The newly hatched young leeches look like adults and are cork yellow. There are seven purple-gray fine vertical lines on each side of the back of the body.

IV. Feeding techniques

1. Bait feeding

Leeches mainly feed on the blood of snails, earthworms and other invertebrates and mammals, natural feed is mainly snails, supplemented by earthworms, insect larvae, etc., artificial feed is the blood of all kinds of animals, blood clotting residues should be removed in time after feeding, so as not to pollute the water.

2. Regulation of water quality

Leeches are easy to survive, and the requirements for the environment and water quality are not strict. The water temperature is kept at 15-30 degrees. Too high and too low all affect growth, but the density of artificial culture is high, and the water quality is clean to ensure a certain amount of dissolved oxygen. In addition, the water temperature is high from July to August. We should pay attention to the proper change of water and reduce the water temperature.

3. Overwintering management

After winter, when the temperature drops below 10 degrees, the leeches stop feeding, drill into the soil or hibernate under the leaves, drain and cover the surface of the pool with straw or wood to prevent freezing and keep the soil moist. During the winter with ice, the pool water should be properly deepened to prevent complete freezing.

The above is the leech breeding technology that Xiaobian has sorted out for you. I hope I can help you!
