Speaking of locusts, we must think of pests, but in recent years, locusts have become a delicacy on people's dinner table, and locust breeding programs have been carried out in many rural areas. So, what are the breeding techniques for locusts? Let's get to know it together.

1. Select varieties

There are many species of locusts, and their adaptability and resistance are very strong. We can breed cotton locusts, East Asian migratory locusts and other varieties, each of which has different advantages and disadvantages. Our most common breeding species is the East Asian migratory locust, but it is not suitable for everyone. When selecting varieties, we should carefully consider various factors such as growth time, number of eggs, body size, culture environment, market demand and so on. Different varieties determine the breeding direction and even the market, so we should choose varieties according to the actual situation.

2. Site construction

First of all, we should build the breeding site in a place with strong sunlight and good ventilation, and the farm should be higher than the ground to facilitate later drainage. Locusts usually lay eggs in the soil. So we should choose sandy soil suitable for locusts to lay eggs, and then spread a layer of leaves on the ground to facilitate locusts' feeding. The area of the farm determines the number and density of our breeding, and pay attention to the closeness of the farm. Prevent locusts from escaping, which will cause devastating harm to crops. Waterproof and rain-proof measures should be taken to prevent excessive amount of water from drowning locusts when it rains.

3. Feeding and management

After the establishment of the site, you can directly put the planting locust into it. The seed locust will begin to mate and lay eggs, the young grasshopper will gradually hatch after laying eggs, and the young grasshopper will begin to change its skin about 6 days after hatching. This is the critical period for the growth of young grasshoppers. There must be enough feed to ensure that young grasshoppers peel off successfully. If it is not enough, it will lead to problems in the growth of locusts, or even failure to change their skins, and there is a certain danger that there will be eating too much. There are various problems such as being bitten, so we must pay attention to it. When the locusts have successfully changed their skins for five times, they are almost mature. At this time, some of the locusts lay eggs, and the rest can be caught and listed on the market.

4. Prevent escape

Grasshopper is a kind of insect that does great harm to crops, which is completely different from other special industries. Although artificial breeding will make it produce greater value, it also increases the number of grasshoppers and hidden dangers. Therefore, we must do a good job in anti-escape measures in the process of breeding, set up an isolation zone stained with insecticide around the breeding site, prepare sprayers in the field, and timely spray to kill when there is escape. To prevent harm to the agricultural environment.

The above is the breeding technology of locusts, I hope I can help you!
