Quail birds are a common delicacy on modern dining tables. Not only quail meat is delicious, quail eggs are also popular with the public and are of great economic value. So, what are the prevention and control methods for quails? Let's get to know it together.

1. Selection of improved varieties

The first step and key step in breeding quail is to choose the breed of quail. A good breed of quail should have a moderate eye size, a slender neck, a small round head, shiny feathers, full muscles, a friendly expression, and do not choose close relatives. The breeding standard of female quail is large abdominal volume, weight 130-150 grams, egg laying capacity of more than 170 grams is not strong, the specific egg production standard is calculated according to the egg production of female quails for 3 months. It is better to lay more than 250 eggs a year. Male quails can be selected after 50 days of hatching, requiring loud singing, slightly long and continuous voice, strong chest and wide body, quail claws fully extended, weight 120-130 grams, anal crimson bulge, if hand pressure has white foam, it shows that it has been in estrus and has the ability to mate.

2. Timely breeding

The breeding age of breeding quail is from 3 months to 1 year, and the best age for male quails is 4-6 months old, but in actual breeding, male and female quails aged 50-60 days begin to breed and reproduce every year. Quails have the most libido in the morning and evening, and the highest fertilization is after mating. If they are sure of artificial hatching, quails can mate and reproduce all year round.

3. Egg laying management

During the laying period, light is very important and directly affects the egg laying rate and egg quality. According to the experiment, increasing light at night can increase the egg laying rate by 25%. Therefore, it is necessary to hang a 60-watt lamp and add about 4 hours of light to achieve 16 hours of light every day. The rest of the time can be changed to 4-watt lighting.

4. Incubation technology

There are two kinds of quail hatching: natural hatching and artificial hatching. natural hatching can choose female chickens and female pigeons instead of hatching. artificial hatching uses chicken incubator to hatch selected quail breeding eggs. the hatching temperature is slightly higher than the hatching temperature of chicken chicks. Generally, the room temperature is 20-23 degrees Celsius, and the relative humidity should be maintained at about 65%. Two days before the chick, the humidity increases to more than 80%, and it is often ventilated when the embryo will be broken out. Every 2-3 hours, turn the breeding eggs at an angle of 90 degrees to help the embryos move. The hatching period of the breeding eggs is 17 days. The chicks begin to feed and drink water 12 hours after they come out of the shell, no more than 24 hours at the latest.

Quail reproduction is related to the sustainable development and economic benefits of farmers. Quail breeding also requires schools to breed quails and master correct breeding methods in order to obtain higher economic benefits.
