Budgerigar, also known as Jiao Feng, has a wide variety and is a kind of pet bird loved by the public. So, what are the breeding precautions for budgerigar? Let's get to know it together.

1. Preparation for reproduction

Budgerigar will gradually enter estrus when it grows to about 4 months. before that, you can prepare for the breeding of parrots, first choose a pair of strong and disease-free parrots, and then two weeks before breeding, adjust the feed to eggs, rice, etc., mix them together to provide nutrition for parrots, and can also be mixed with fine eggshells in the feed, which can supplement calcium for parrots. Proper adjustment of feed can promote parrot estrus, enhance growth ability, and improve the success rate of reproduction.

2. Judge estrus

After getting ready for breeding, we should often observe the estrus of parrots, which can be judged from the mental state. First of all, the female parrots who are successfully conceived are more energetic and will keep walking around, while the male parrots in estrus will follow the female parrots closely, wherever they go, and will constantly tease the female parrots and feed the females. When you hear the female make a more harsh call, it means that you are already in estrus. After mating, pay attention to observe the feces of the female bird, if more and larger than usual, then the female bird will begin to enter the ovulation stage.

3. Auxiliary hatching

When the female parrot successfully ovulates, it is necessary to spread soft and non-slippery things such as straw in the cage to prevent the bottom from being too hard to cause eggs to be damaged and to avoid colliding between eggs. Parrots lay eggs about 5 times at a time, usually once a day. During this period, the environment must be kept quiet enough to avoid making too much noise to frighten the parrot, affecting ovulation, and pay attention to replenishing the female after ovulation. Recovery of physical strength, usually under normal incubation, takes about 3 weeks.

4. Take care of the chicks

Generally speaking, the nestling can only leave the nest for about a month to live on its own. during this month, all the birds are taken care of and fed by the parrots, and the females usually stay in the cage until the nestling feathers grow out, but when they live on their own, the breeding parrot will leave the nest, reduce the care for the nestling, and then begin the next breeding, although the parrot can take care of the nestling. However, there is also a phenomenon of abandoning nestlings, so if this happens, we have to take over artificial care of chicks to prevent starvation and cold death and improve the success rate of reproduction.

The above are the points for attention of budgerigar breeding, I hope I can help you!
