Generally, when the sow's vaginal redness and swelling begins to subside and there is a filamentous mucus flow, the sow can be bred when it is pressed and the hindquarters of the sow stand still for 30 hours after estrus. Before mating, first check whether the vaginal secretions of the sows are normal. If normal, insemination should be performed once standing, and insemination should be done every 8-12 hours until the sows no longer receive back compressions.

What if the sow is not in estrus?

1. Massage the breast: after feeding every morning, let the sow lie on its side, massage each breast for 10 minutes with the palm of the hand, massage the breast for 5 minutes on the surface and deep massage on the breast for 5 minutes respectively, and massage deeply on the day of breeding for about 10 minutes.

2. Driving exercise: the driving exercise of sows can promote metabolism, improve fat condition, promote oestrus and ovulation of sows, or clamp sows on both legs and pat their buttocks with hands, which can appropriately promote sows in estrus.

3. Herd and circle: merge the non-estrus sows into the estrus sow pen, due to the change of the environment, through stimulation such as climbing, the non-estrus sows can enter the state as soon as possible.

4. Hormone aphrodisiac: intramuscular injection of 100 units of human chorionic gonadotropin into sows, or subcutaneous injection of 5 milliliters of human pregnant horse serum can promote oestrus and ovulation in sows.

5. Semen reminder: take 20 milliliters of boar semen, slowly inject semen into the uterus of sows with vas deferens, and constantly turn and twitch the vas deferens back and forth, while sprinkling a small amount of semen on the nose of sows, which can promote estrus of sows.

Second, how to judge whether the sow is pregnant?

1. Look at the breasts: 3-4 days after mating, the sow gently pinches the penultimate pair of nipples with the hand, and if a hard milk duct is found, it means that it is pregnant; 30 days after mating, the attachment site of the nipple of the sow shows a black-purple halo and begins to elongate, indicating that it is pregnant; the arrangement of the nipple is observed from the rear legs of the sow, the front end of the nipple opens outward, and the nipple expands and bulges at the base, indicating that it is pregnant.

2. Look at the behavior: after breeding, the sow shows greedy sleep and gluttony, gentle temperament, fast recovery, bright fur close to the body, gradually increasing abdominal circumference, dry vulva, shrinking into a line, and tail drooping; or the inferior pubic junction gradually shrinks and closes, obviously upward, indicating that you are pregnant.

3. Look at the estrus: if it is a sow with a normal estrus cycle, it can be preliminarily judged that she is pregnant after a cycle of estrus (18-25 days).

4. Test urine: take 10 milliliters of morning urine of sows 5-10 days after breeding, add 1 milliliter of 5% iodine or 1 milliliter of vinegar, when heated to boiling point, if the urine is red, you can judge that the sow is pregnant.
