Every time I go to the pedestrian street or a place with more people to play, I always see some people selling hamsters there. They are very cute and cute in appearance, and many people are willing to buy a few to keep as pets at home. Will hamsters catch plague?. What if I get bitten?

First, the introduction of hamsters:

1. How long is the life span of hamsters?

Under normal feeding conditions, the life span of hamsters is generally 2 ~ 3 years, most hamsters live about 2 and a half years, and some live more than 3 years, but this situation is rare. However, males generally live slightly longer. Between 3 and 3.5 years, male hamsters usually live longer than female hamsters, while infertile females live longer than male hamsters.

2. What are the species of hamsters?

Robowski, Gakaria hamster, silver fox hamster, purple hamster, winter white hamster.

Will raising hamsters catch plague?

Raising hamsters won't catch plague. Because hamsters are not born sick, but also have to be infected with pathogens. Wild hamsters may carry disease-causing genes, but domestic hamsters live in cages from birth to death, and both diet, drinking water, and even reproduction are done with human intervention. It is impossible for such hamsters to have the plague virus.

Third, what if you are bitten by a hamster?

1. Slight bite

If there is only a slight bite without bleeding or less bleeding, and the wound is not deep or large, just wipe it with alcohol.

2. Severe bites

(1) be sure to squeeze out the blood first and clean the wound and the periphery. The main purpose is to rinse the dirt attached to the teeth from the wound.

(2) use a cotton swab to stop the bleeding. If it is a penetrating wound and a laceration, you need to peel off the skin with a cotton swab.

(3) rinse the exposed wound with alcohol (very painful), then apply a band-aid.

3. Be bitten out of blood

(1) No wound, no broken skin: if the hamster just gnaws and does not really bite the skin, then there is no need for any treatment.

(2) bleed from hamster bites: if you are bitten and bleed, squeeze out some of the blood first, and then wash it with soapy water.

(3) the bitten site is swollen: if you are bitten and bleed, but the bitten site is swollen the next day, you need to go to the hospital to break the tetanus needle.

The above is the introduction of whether raising hamsters will be infected with plague and cleaning up after being bitten. I hope it will be helpful to you.
