With the development of society, locusts are not only pests in the traditional sense. As a kind of insects with both medicine and food, locusts have quickly become the darling of aquaculture. How to cultivate edible locusts? What are the precautions? Let the editor explain it for you.

I. the value of edible locusts

With each passing day, people's quality of life and awareness are constantly improving. Now it is not only the traditional chicken, duck and fish that can be on the human table, but also green game is favored by everyone. And dishes made by locusts are known as "flying shrimp" because they are comparable to shrimp in terms of nutrition, taste, and meat quality, and have become a favorite food for people all over the world, and locusts are indispensable to the "insect banquet" for distinguished guests in the United States. In this context, the locust market is getting wider and wider, which is of great economic value.

Technical steps for culturing edible locusts

1. Selection of breeding species of locusts

Locusts are both medicinal and edible insects, laying eggs. Among the 859 species of multiple locusts, there are mainly two species that can be used as medicine and edible, namely, the East Asian migratory locust and the Chinese rice locust. It is generally dominated by East Asian migratory locusts. Take the East Asian migratory locust as an example. Under the condition of natural temperature, the East Asian migratory locust can be divided into summer locust and autumn locust. The locust has a large size, a wide range of food and strong adaptability. it only takes about a month from the young locust to the adult to be fattened and sold.

2. Management of breeding shed

First of all, we should understand that the main natural enemies of locusts are ants and mole crickets. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that there are no natural enemies before building the shed. The shed is ventilated and illuminated. The foundation is about 10 miles and 15 centimeters higher, using sandy loam that is not easy to caking. The construction area is determined according to the number of animals raised.

3. Feeding and management of locusts

Some locusts start from buying insects or larvae, and some buy eggs directly.

⑴ care of locust eggs. From the beginning of the cultivation of insect eggs, it is necessary to understand that locust eggs can hatch when the temperature reaches 25Mu30 degrees Celsius. Mix the non-toxic soil and sawdust at 2:1, keep the soil moisture at 10mur15%, and spread the last film in the containers according to the order of soil, eggs, and soil. Pay attention to the inspection, and when the locusts appear, use a soft brush to gently dip them onto the prepared food. Locust eggs hatch for about half a month. The food prepared for young locusts is mainly tender wheat seedlings, corn seedlings, weeds and so on.

Breeding of ⑵ immature locusts. Young locusts peel once every 7 days after laying eggs, and once peeled is one year old. Young locusts that have just molted their skin should be waterproof, suitable temperature, more than ten hours of light, and humidity should be kept at about 15%. Locusts gradually increase their food intake after molting for three times, so it is necessary to ensure that the young locusts have enough food. Avoid causing mutual eating and affecting development. After molting for five times, the locusts grow into adults, enter the stage of sexual maturity more than ten days after Eclosion, begin to mate, leave the locusts for seed, and sell the rest.

Management of ⑶ adults before and after oviposition. After mating, the abdomen of the female locust gradually becomes thick and long, and the yellowish brown deepens, while the male locust presents a bright yellow. The egg mass of the East Asian migratory locust is brown, slightly cylindrical, slightly curved in the middle, about 40 to 70 mm in size, and the number of eggs in each egg is 60Mel 120.

Matters needing attention

1. Locusts belong to special breeding. If there is no reliable market, you should invest carefully and don't follow the trend blindly.

2. The food prepared for locusts should be collected according to the species of locusts, and do not use food with pesticides, otherwise it will lead to the death of a large number of locusts.

3. In the process of breeding, we should not only prevent the natural enemies of locusts, but also control the diseases in the breeding shed and get rid of dead insects in time.

4. Sell locusts that do not breed as soon as possible.

5. Attention should be paid to waterproofing in the whole breeding process.

6. Pay attention to high temperature in summer and take shading measures in time.

7. Long-term culture should pay attention to the change of provenance, otherwise it will cause variety degradation.

As a special breeding project, locust breeding benefits and risks coexist. I hope the information brought by the editor can provide you with a good reference when making investments.
