At present, giant pandas raised in zoos are not given meat, and generally eat bamboo. Although giant pandas like to eat bamboo, not all kinds of bamboo will eat, they will choose their favorite varieties, favorite parts to eat. Because bamboo is rich in fiber, but relatively low in nutrition, if long-term eating high-fiber food will be difficult to digest, so they will choose lignin content and cellulose relatively low parts to eat, such as tender bamboo leaves, bamboo shoots and so on.

It is said that giant pandas used to eat meat, such as animal residues and bamboo rats, all of which were their food. Later, when the ice age came, the originally vast temperate and subtropical forests shrank rapidly, and some of the polyphagous animals that had lived in the north were also expelled to the panda's living place by the cold. Therefore, in the face of these pressures, the panda family began to eat vegetarian food and not meat.

Why do pandas look lazy?

Giant pandas look lazy because bamboo is low in nutrients. They often spend most of their time eating and the rest of their time curled up, lying on their sides and sleeping on their backs. Usually they walk slowly, eight inside, mainly to save physical strength.

Giant pandas raised in zoos generally have keepers who give food regularly and quantitatively, so they have a lot of time to rest. Generally, when we go to zoos, they are sleeping in various postures, which is very cute.

Giant pandas are also very gentle. They are shy and rarely offer themselves to other animals or people. But if it is a mother panda temperament is different, then it is not offensive.
