When it comes to scorpions, people may be a little scared, or even afraid to go near it, but it's not that scary. Although it is toxic, it has a wide range of applications and has a large market demand in recent years. So, are scorpions insects? What is its breeding method?

Is the scorpion an insect?

Scorpions are not insects. Scorpions belong to the arachnid phylum Arachnida, which is typically characterized by long, thin bodies, stings, curved segments and stinging tails. At present, there are more than 1400 species of scorpions. The body of an insect is divided into three parts: head, chest and abdomen. Adults usually have two pairs of wings and six legs, wings and feet are located in the chest, the body consists of a series of body segments, further assembled into three body segments (head, chest and abdomen). A pair of tentacles are born on the tentacles, and the bones are wrapped around the outside of the body; the shape of life is varied, and there are prosperous families all over the world. It is the most diverse species of arthropods.

Scorpions do not conform to the above-mentioned characteristics of insects, but they all belong to a large family of invertebrate arthropods, and insects belong to adjacent groups in the large family.

Second, what is the breeding method of scorpions?

1. Construction of breeding ground

Generally choose to build a breeding pond in an uninhabited empty house or shed, and the scorpion pond is piled with red brick cement and filled with about 6 centimeters of sand at the bottom of the pool. Put plastic film or glass around the pool to create a smooth wall to prevent the scorpion from escaping.

two。 Feed and feeding

Scorpion is a typical carnivore, like mosquitoes, flies, mantis, spiders, crickets and other soft and succulent insects, but also very few species will eat a small amount of plant feed. Therefore, the feeding of scorpions should be meat-based. Scorpion's animal feed can be trapped by leaving a hole about 25 centimeters in diameter in the roof, hanging a lamp above the hole, equipped with a funnel under the light, turning on the light when it is getting dark, attracting mosquitoes and spiders to fall into the scorpion pond, and can also raise and cultivate crickets, maggots and other insects as feed.

For scorpion drinking water, cloth with strong water absorption such as sponge cotton can be used to absorb enough water into the scorpion pond, and an antibiotic (oxytetracycline, sulfonamide, etc.) can be added to the scorpion drinking water every 3 to 5 days. Each tablet is about 4 kg of cold boiled water, mix well and absorb it on the sponge and put it into the scorpion pond.

3. Constant temperature management

When the temperature reaches 10 °C or higher, the scorpion begins to grow normally. When the temperature is below 10 °C, it begins to hibernate. According to practice, scorpions grow and reproduce fastest at 28-38 °C, and their activity time is the longest and their food intake is the highest. Therefore, when the temperature is too low, heating equipment should be installed in the farm to keep the temperature between 28 and 38 ℃, the relative humidity of the air between 60% and 80%, and the water supply the same as in summer.

4. Humidity management

The best air humidity in the farm should be 45% to 50%. The water content of sandy soil is between 15% and 20%, so that the sandy soil is not dry or wet, and people do not feel stuffy in the scorpion room. It is important to pay special attention to the fact that the sandy soil should not be too wet, otherwise the scorpion will give birth to acariasis and cause death.

Judging from the market demand in recent years, the prospect of breeding scorpions is relatively broad, and the breeding of scorpions is faster, so it is not difficult to raise them. Friends who want to raise scorpions can learn more about the market.
