Duck meat is tight, not fat to eat, has a certain nutritional value, suitable for braised or stewed soup to drink. Nowadays, retail duck farmers are relatively rare, and they are generally raised by large farmers. In the process of raising ducks, what is the cause of diarrhea? How to prevent duck from getting sick?

What is the cause of diarrhea in farmed ducks?

1. Feed factor

When feeding ducks with spoiled and moldy feed, ducks can cause gastrointestinal problems, such as indigestion, leading to diarrhea; and there is a high content of protein in the feed, which increases the burden on the liver and kidneys of ducks, leading to metabolic disorders and diarrhea; ducks can also cause diarrhea when they lack nutrients such as calcium, phosphorus and vitamins. In feeding, we must ensure that the feed is fresh, to limit the supply of protein, especially in summer, but also pay attention to a variety of balanced nutrition, feed nutrition should not be single.

2. Disease factors

Duck diarrhea is generally very likely to be the cause of the disease. The common diseases that cause duck diarrhea are colibacillosis, serositis and so on. They are mainly characterized by diarrhea, loss of appetite or lack of food, lethargy and less exercise. If treated, serious cases can lead to duck death. These diseases can be prevented and treated with professional drugs, but prevention is the main way to do a good job. Vaccination can prevent and cure most diseases when ducklings are one to two weeks old.

3. Drug overdose

Overuse of drugs can also cause diarrhea. If it is caused by overuse of drugs, it is necessary to adjust the dosage; for diarrhea caused by drug poisoning, we must protect the liver and kidney of ducks and relieve diuresis; and for diarrhea caused by long-term drug use, we should adjust the gastrointestinal system, add an appropriate amount of bacillus and probiotics to feed or drinking water, and cooperate with antibiotics to prevent diarrhea from getting worse. When using drugs, we must first start from low to high, must not use drugs too violently, formulate reasonable drug use procedures, and choose veterinary drugs produced by reliable manufacturers.

4. Environmental factors

When the summer is hot and hot, the amount of water that ducks eat and drink increases, resulting in a decrease in the number of gastrointestinal microflora, so diarrhea occurs. Failure to take timely measures to cool down and prevent heat will also lead to diarrhea. in addition, excessive feeding density, poor ventilation in duck houses, excessive ammonia, etc., will cause diarrhea in ducks. Therefore, in the summer high temperature season, we should do a good job in cooling measures, reduce the breeding density, clean up duck excreta in time, disinfect regularly, and reduce a series of stress reactions.

Second, how to prevent diseases in breeding ducks?

Egg ducks or meat ducks are raised on the ground, which inevitably comes into contact with feces and contaminated bedding, especially in summer and autumn, when parasites are easy to infect ducks unwittingly.

Flat ducks should strengthen the deworming work and the prevention of staphylococcal disease. The feed intake of ducks was normal, the death rate was not high, the laying rate decreased gradually, the weight of eggs became lighter, and most of the feces were white and brown, such as water or lime, the effect of treatment with antibiotics was not obvious, sporadic death was found, dissection found that diseased ducks were emaciated, sternum protruded and bent, and there were a large number of tapeworms gathered in the intestines.

Preventive measures: coccidiosis prevention in ducklings at 10 days old, parasite prevention in body surface and body at about 30 days old, intestinal parasite elimination at 60 days old and 120 days old respectively, and deworming every month or every 2 months after laying eggs, especially in summer and autumn. Drug selection, try to choose drugs with low toxicity and mild side effects on eggs, such as amproline, albendazole, fenbendazole, avermectin or ivermectin, etc. if tapeworm infection occurs, the preferred drugs are praziquantel and betel nut; drug use, it is best to use the way of mixing for 3-5 days at an interval of 7 days, followed by 3 days to kill adults and eggs and remove them from the body.

The feces during the medication period should be cleaned in time to avoid direct contact between breeding groups and faeces, and the collected faeces should be fermented, and the parasites and harmful pathogenic bacteria in the faeces should be completely killed by high temperature treatment.
