Salamanders are not baby fish, but two different kinds of fish. Although the two look very similar, there are still many differences. The most obvious difference is the head of the giant salamander is flat, while the salamander is not, as long as look at this is enough to distinguish.

The difference between salamanders and baby fish

The external form of a salamander, which consists of five parts: head, neck, torso, limbs and tail. The total length of the adult is 6-8 cm. The skin is bare, the back is black or grayish black, there are slightly protruding moles on the skin, and irregular orange-red plaques on the abdomen. The neck of the salamander is not obvious, the torso is flat, the limbs are more developed, the forelimbs are four fingers, the hindlimbs are five toes, the fingers (toes) are not webbed, and the tail is flat and long. Salamanders crawl underwater and on land and swim in the water by constantly bending and swinging their torso and tail.

The distinction between male and female: the male is slightly smaller than the female; the male is lively and sensitive, the female is enlarged in the abdomen, and the movement is slow; the male cloacal foramen is raised, especially in the reproductive season, the pore is long, with obvious villous papillae, even protruding outward, while the female cloacal pore is flat, the pore fissure is short, and there is no obvious papilla.

Because the baby fish cries like a baby, it is commonly known as "baby fish". The doll fish has a flat head, blunt round head, large mouth, underdeveloped eyes and no eyelids. The front part of the body is flat, until the tail gradually turns to the side. There are obvious skin folds on both sides of the body, the limbs are short and flat, the fingers and toes are front, five and four, and they are slightly webbed. The tail is round, with fins above and below the tail. The surface of the body is smooth and covered with mucus. The back of the body is a mixture of black and reddish brown, and the ventral color is light.
