Are salamanders poisonous?

Not all salamanders are poisonous. Some are non-toxic, while some are highly toxic. Salamanders are reptiles, so take protective measures when touching them, because their body surfaces secrete mucus to keep their skin moist, and this mucus contains a lot of bacteria or parasites! The representative of the poisonous salamander is the oriental salamander, although the epidermis is not toxic. But if you accidentally get it in the eye, it can also lead to temporary blindness. So don't touch it directly with your hands. And the oriental salamander is also highly toxic under the skin, called tetrodotoxin, which is by far the most toxic toxin found in the world, and one milligram can kill an adult.

What are the key points of artificial breeding of oriental salamanders?

Oriental salamanders like to live in humid environments such as mountain ponds or paddy fields or mountain stream waters with slow flow, and like to eat wigglers, water earthworms, water fleas, bread worms, small fish and so on. They move slowly and often put their head out of the water to breathe when lack of oxygen. Now let's take a look at the key points of artificial breeding of oriental salamanders.

1. First of all, we need to prepare a large glass fish tank, because oriental salamanders belong to larger pets, so that oriental salamanders have enough space for activities and are convenient for us to watch.

2. Secondly, it is necessary to establish a better environment for it. For example, lay a layer of clean gravel under the fish tank and inject well water 30 centimeters deep. Then put in a small amount of goldfish algae or aquatic plants, because sand gravel can absorb feces and dirt removed by Oriental salamanders, and aquatic plants can carry out photosynthesis to increase the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water.

3. Furthermore, clean pool water needs to be provided. Choose well water or tap water, but well water and tap water need to be exposed to the sun for 3 to 5 days to remove chlorine from the water before raising oriental salamanders. And the pool water also needs to be replaced regularly, because of the high temperature in summer, the pool water is changed more frequently, every 3-5 days, but not so frequently in spring, autumn and winter, every 15 days.

4. Finally, the oriental salamander is fed mainly by living small animals, such as leeches, earthworms, tadpoles, wrigglers, water fleas and so on. Secondly, you can also buy frozen shrimp in the supermarket, thaw and cut into small pieces to feed.
