It is listed in the Chinese Red list of Biodiversity-vertebrate Volume, assessed as near Endangered (NT); listed in Appendix Ⅲ to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered species of Wild Fauna and Flora; and included in the list of Land Wildlife with beneficial State Protection or important Economic and Scientific Research value issued by the State Forestry Administration of China on August 1st, 2000.

The body length of the white-faced beaver is 48 cm 50 cm, the tail length is 37 cm 41 cm, and the weight is 3600 5 000 grams. The body hair is short and thick, the body color is yellowish grayish brown, the head hair is black, there is a clear color band from the forehead to the bridge of the nose, white spots under the eyes and ears, and gray-brown body hair on the back. The back of the head, shoulder, the end of the limbs and the back half of the tail are black, the limbs are short and strong, each with five toes. The toe end has claws, the claws are slightly flexible, and the tail is about 2/3 of the body length.

It mainly lives in forests, bushes, caves, trees or soil caves, and can be found occasionally in reclaimed land. There are a large number of artificial breeding in Jiangxi, Guangxi, Hainan, Fujian and Guangdong.

Although the white-faced beaver is not a national protected wild animal, but the wild white-faced beaver is relatively rare, if found to report to the police in time, protect rare animals from me.
