Peacocks are omnivorous animals, mainly plant feed, mainly eat Sichuan pear, yellow bubble fruit, young tree branches and leaves, rice and other plants and crops, but also eat moths, termites, frogs, lizards and other animals. At present, peacocks can be raised artificially as a special breeding project, the following is to introduce its breeding methods.

How to raise peacocks?

1. Preparation in advance

The trees are shady, the terrain is slightly inclined, and on the half-sandy and half-soil hillside, the environment should be secluded. Plant shrubs and forage grasses to make the moving ground green. The facilities and feed for breeding peacocks are basically the same as those of domestic chickens, so it is necessary to do a good job of vaccination before breeding.

two。 Peacock introduction

Before entering the fence, peacocks should make a good group combination. For species selection, they should choose feathers, beautiful colors, strong steps, and uncurved toes, and pay attention to prevent inbreeding. The ratio of male to female should be controlled at 1:5. Do not match at 1:1, otherwise the female peacock will be maimed as a result of excessive mating, and the utilization rate of both the fence and the male peacock is not cost-effective. However, do not exceed 1: 5, because then the pregnancy rate will be reduced. One group is a production group, and each group must be raised in a barn. After entering the laying period, the peacock begins to be in estrus.

3. Daily management

Artificial breeding peacocks, first of all to ensure that the breeding environment is clean and hygienic, and to carry out regular disinfection and cleaning. In the first disinfection, to choose alkaline disinfectant; the second disinfection, you can use conventional concentrations of chlorine agents, or surfactants and other oxidants for spraying; the third disinfection, fumigation with formaldehyde.

4. Estrus management

The breeding of peacocks is very seasonal, but in the case of artificial breeding, the breeding period can be advanced and extended. Generally speaking, each one can lay about 30 eggs a year, and the annual picking season is from March to August. Every day from 5pm to 9pm, one egg is laid every other day, sometimes only a few days later.

Although the profit of peacock breeding is high, but the risk is also relatively large, so it is suggested that farmers must do a good inspection in advance, find a good market and then consider the scale of breeding.
