Grasshoppers, also known as grasshoppers, are common pests in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishing. Locusts are annoying because they eat the leaves, tender stems, buds and young fruits of wheat, rice, millet, corn, beans, tobacco, reeds, vegetables, fruit trees, trees and weeds. Are locusts insects?

Are locusts insects?

Locusts are insects, and they are both medicinal and edible insects. At present, there are rice locust, East Asian migratory locust, Taiwan locust, Taiwan rice locust, red queen negative locust and so on. But no matter which kind, they all like to eat plant leaves and harm crops, so farmers hate them very much and use various methods to control them.

Second, how to control locusts in agriculture?

1. Reduce the food source of locusts. Many kinds of locusts eat corn, wheat, sorghum, rice, millet and so on, but not soybeans, alfalfa, fruit trees and so on. Therefore, planting soybeans, alfalfa, fruit trees and other trees in locusts as much as possible can control locusts.

2. Reduce the living places of locusts. Some locusts occur in low-lying areas, and we can transform such plots into ponds, raising fish and shrimp, which can greatly reduce the living places of locusts and better control locusts.

3. Reduce the spawning ground of locusts. Some species of locusts, such as the East Asian migratory locust, like to lay eggs in dry and bare land. We should increase the intensity of afforestation, increase the number of plants, and make the plant coverage reach more than 70%. Such plots are not suitable for locusts to lay eggs, and can reduce the harm of locusts.

In short, locusts are insects and agricultural pests, so they are very unpopular. At present, farmers are doing their best to control them.
