Wang Zi Chunlan

During the reign of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty, he was selected by Wang Keming in Fenghua, Zhejiang Province. The leaf posture is strong upright, the leaf quality is thick and hard, the leaf quality is thin and narrow, the leaf tip is acute. The leaves are dark green and dull. The new bud is purplish green. The shell is green with purple sesame tendons. Scape slender, ca. 25 cm tall. The flower is daffodils petal type, the outer three petals have a round head, root, tight edge, waxy, and the second side lobe is arch-hugged. One word shoulder. Pocket-shaped rod heart, round tongue, light red spot, sometimes white tongue. The flowers are yellowish green. The flowers bloom for a long time but remain in shape. In Jiangsu and Zhejiang Chunlan, the most important thing with a long history is "Wang Zi". During the reign of Kangxi (Qing Dynasty), Wang Keming in Fenghua, Zhejiang Province, selected a treasure of daffodils and named it "Wang Zi" after his surname. The word Wang grows vigorously and is easy to bloom. After more than 300 years of reproduction, it has become the most widely spread species in China. The first choice for orchid friends whose vernalization is not very good!

The word Wang is a typical shoulder daffodil; the root of the tongue is often crimson. The leaf is thinner, longer than the dragon character, 25-30 cm long, the leaf bundle is erect, which is the most typical in upright, but some leaf bundles are semi-drooping, suitable for collocation, unique; the leaf tip is sharp, the leaf vein is shallow, and the leaf surface is shiny. The flower is oval daffodil petal, scape long, about 25 cm high, yellowish green flowers, sometimes double flowers, long florescence, to wither without deformation, for the most muscular daffodil petals. Sepals like lotus petals, long and tip involute spoon-like, both sides of sepals flat or slightly falling; petals above the core column, slightly exserted column front, short and soft, with milky white pocket on top; lip large and round, hanging but not curled, with reddish plaques; sheath low, bracts crimson. Wang Zisheng grows strong, likes a well-ventilated environment and is easy to blossom.

The leaf of Wang character is thick and thick, the biggest characteristic of leaf shape is strong upright, with strong muscles and bones, the leaf is about 30cm long, wide 0.9cm or so, the leaf tip is sharp, the leaf color is dark green, lack of luster. The new bud is purplish green, scape is very long, higher than the basin can reach more than 20 cm, extraordinary demeanor. The bracts are purple with a sense of transparency, and the ribbed stripes reach the top. The two sides are flat and extended, which is a typical "one-word shoulder", in high spirits; the end of the valve is round, tight and rolled inward, and the long feet take root; the main valve leans forward slightly, showing neither humble nor arrogant, and polite. The two petals are short and soft, milky white, slightly separated, covering both the fragrant column and the front end of the column, like a slightly open flower room door to attract insects and spread pollen. This is really nature's craftsman-like "artistic creation" ah!

With regard to the lip flap of Wang character, "Lan Hui Xiao Shi" and other Lan Shu mostly think of "big round tongue". The so-called big round tongue, Shen Yuanru explained: "the tongue is large and round, slightly inclined." (see Orchid, page 32) Wu Kaiyuan also believes that the big round tongue is slightly larger than the bangs, and it can be divided into big round tongue and small round tongue. " (see the famous catalogue of Chinese Orchids (Chunlan), page 13) they all think that the word Wang is "big round tongue", while Yipin is "small round tongue". The author was puzzled and compared repeatedly, and found that the lip of Wang character was no bigger than that of Yipin. Lip flap in the "round tongue" should be through the "comparison of goods" in order to distinguish which is bigger or smaller. In the orchid circle of our country, the lips of Chunyipin, Yichun, Jiang Xiaochun and other daffodils are classified as "big round tongue", which is appropriate. Because their lip flaps are obviously bigger than those of Wang Zi. Starting from reality, in the spirit of seeking truth from facts, it is better to define Wang as a small round tongue (called "round tongue" at most) like Yipin, and the word "big" can be avoided, which will not reduce the value of Wang.

Among the Chunlan, selected from the reign of Kangxi-the only one with the same long history as Wang is "Yumeisu". However, Xu Yilou, who wrote the Book of Lan Hui with one mind, wrote poems praising Wang in 1865 and gave a lofty evaluation of surpassing Yu Meisu: "the fragrant species has been around for 200 years, but it still ranks first among the jade plums."

Taking a comprehensive view of the river characters, the designs and colors are bright green, noble and elegant; the flowers are dignified and full of bones and muscles. The florescence is long and durable, keeping the appearance of the first flower until it is withered. It is an exaggeration to describe it with "steel and iron bones". It might as well be compared with "strong character". It may be able to depict the character of Wang. No wonder "Shaoxing Orchid Culture" and "Li Daitao stiff"-replacing ten thousand words with Wang characters, together with Song Mei, Longzi and Jiyuan, are called the "four Heavenly Kings" of Chunlan.
