Scavenger fish, also known as multi-wing catfish, lower mouth catfish, pipa mouse, fish farmers usually raise several scavenger fish in the fish tank, they are often adsorbed on the side of the fish tank, which can play a certain role in the purification of water quality. Scavengers also have many kinds of fish, not only a single black one, but also golden ones. What kind of food does the scavenger fish usually eat? How do you raise it?

What kind of food do scavengers usually eat?

Scavenger fish, as omnivorous fish, its food intake is very large, it likes to adsorb on the aquarium box wall or aquatic plants, the main food is moss, fish secreted mucus on the cylinder wall and food residue. However, they also have the disadvantage of swallowing the eggs of other fish, or licking their wounds when they are sick. Of course, they don't just eat these bait leftovers, but also if you give them fish, insects or fish feed.

The scavenger's fish is semicircular in shape, slightly wider on both sides, and the fish's tail is in the shape of a shallow fork. The scavenger's mouth is at the bottom, the fin on the back is broad, and the abdomen is flat, like a fan-shaped sucker.

From a distance, the scavenger's belly looks like a small pipa. The common skin is dark brown and covered with black spots. The adult scavenger fish is also large and often active at night, suitable for breeding with large tropical fish.

Second, how to raise the scavenger fish?

1. Water quality management

Breeding scavengers should choose soft water or low hardness water, which is weakly acidic or neutral. If the water quality is too acidic, it is easy to cause difficulty in breathing and slow growth of the fish, and if the water quality is too alkaline, it will corrode the Gill tissue of the fish.

2. The method of changing water

The operation method is to suck out the feces, feed residue and other dirt from the bottom of the fish tank with a straw, which is about 1/4 of the water in the tank, and then add the same amount of water at the same temperature, but the water must be fresh water after drying or chemical dechlorination. It can be changed twice a week in autumn and winter, and three times a week in spring and summer. When changing all the water, take out the equipment, plants and fish in the fish tank, and then scrub the wall and bottom of the tank thoroughly with a sponge. All the water can be changed once every three to four months.

3. Water temperature requirements

The scavenger is very sensitive to temperature, and the unsuitable temperature will kill the fish. The water temperature is maintained between 20-24 ℃, the water temperature during the breeding season is controlled at 25-28 ℃, and the temperature difference between day and night can not exceed 4 ℃.

4. Oxygen

Photosynthesis of aquatic plants can produce oxygen, so you can increase the oxygen content of water by adding aquatic plants to the fish tank. At the same time, timely clean-up and change of water can also increase the amount of oxygen dissolved in the water.
