Partial mouth fish and turbot fish are flounder, they look very similar, but there are differences between them. So, what are the differences between partial fish and turbot fish? Now I would like to introduce to you.

First, the species are different: halibut, that is, flounder, high-eyed flounder, is the general name of the order Haliformes, including the family Paralichthidae, Paralichthys olivaceae, flounder, Glossiidae. The turbot, namely European flounder and turbot, belongs to the genus Scophthalmus of the family Paralichthidae. It can be seen that the turbot fish is a kind of partial mouth fish.

The second difference is that the body shape of the fish is oval, with both eyes on the left or right, the one on the left is called flounder, the one on the right is called flounder, the body is black on one side and white on the other, the black side faces up and the white side faces down. The turbot fish is long oval, oval or tongue-shaped, with two eyes on the left side of the head, bluish brown or light brown on the eyeless side (back), white on the eyeless side (ventral), and irregular spots on the body surface.

Third, the distribution is different: the fish mainly live in the coastal waters of the western Pacific Ocean, most in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea of China, sporadic in the East China Sea, and the coastal area of Rushan is a place to settle down all the year round. The turbot fish is mainly found along the coast of Europe on the east side of the Atlantic Ocean. Its natural distribution extends from Iceland in the north to the European coast near Morocco in the south. It is commonly found in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.

Fourth, different eating habits: partial mouth fish mainly feed on small fish, followed by shrimp, cephalopods, echinoderms and polychaeta, often foraging at night, mostly feeding on starfish and other small animals. The turbot mainly feeds on benthic invertebrates and fish, and mainly preys on small fish and shrimp, including spotted mullet, striped mullet, white mullet and grass shrimp.

Difference five, eat different: partial mouth fish often fried, its meat is tender, delicious, and small thorns, especially suitable for the elderly and children to eat. The eating method of turbot is steaming and stewing, which is also a good material for making sashimi, and its head, bone, skin and fins can also make soup.
