Last Updated: 2024/11/09, Giant turtles are also a kind of pet turtles raised on a daily basis. Now more people like this kind of tortoise, and it is still a hot seller in the market. So how to raise giant turtles? First, feeding it can still be mixed with other turtles, there will be no chaos.

Giant turtle is also a daily breeding pet turtle, now there are more people like this turtle, in the market is still relatively hot. So how do you raise giant turtles?

I. Feeding

It can still be mixed with other turtles, will not happen messy things, in the breeding is also relatively easy, you can eat some small insects and shrimp, but also eat some weeds, in the feeding is still relatively convenient. Giant tortoises tend to prefer wide, unobstructed areas, like large rivers and streams. And naturally formed ponds are his favorites.

II. Daily management

Giant tortoises still had relatively high requirements for rearing temperature. They needed some natural sunlight every day to be able to move well. They had to be exposed to sunlight for eight to fourteen hours every day. The requirements for water temperature changed with the seasons. When it was hot in summer, the water temperature should not exceed 33 degrees Celsius, which would cause adverse reactions. Instead, at night, the temperature should be at 24 degrees Celsius or 26 degrees Celsius, which was the most ideal temperature. It is also more stringent when it comes to environmental requirements, requiring a filter to change oxygen, which helps them breathe and can easily run up and down in the active area.

III. Reproduction

Males usually reach sexual maturity in 4-8 years, with carapace lengths of 7-9 cm, while females reach sexual maturity in an average of 7 years (5-9), with carapace lengths of 8-10 cm. Seminal vesicles proliferate and become abundant in March and June of each year. Testes begin to increase sharply from July and reach their peak in August, when sperm reserves are at their highest. After hibernation, sperm gradually reach the male's genitals. So it's not hard to imagine why males have a strong desire to mate after hibernation. Females have enlarged ovaries from August or September to June of the calendar year. Ovulation and laying occur in October and June and July of the calendar year respectively.

Giant turtle breeding is relatively simple, if at home breeding, aquarium tank needs no obstacles, large-scale planting can be mixed breeding.
