How to raise wild pigeons

Wild pigeons are undomesticated wild pigeons, which are more common in mountains and bushes. They can be crossed with domestic pigeons to cultivate new breeds. How to raise wild pigeons?

1. Select the land to build the site

When selecting land, try to choose sunny slopes with good ventilation, dryness and high topography. Set up high-altitude cages, with an area of 40-60 square meters and a height of 2.5-3 meters, built with bamboo and tied with a plastic net. Build a bird shed in the cage for turtledove shelter from rain on rainy days and sun shelter in summer. The cage of the bird breeding farm should be 1.5-2 meters above the ground, using bamboo or branches to make fake trees and build artificial bird nests to facilitate turtledoves to lay eggs.

2. Seed selection

The breeding birds are selected as breeding birds, which are large, strong, disease-free, 10-month-old adult birds, and raised alone. Food containing protein, lecithin and calcium should be added to the feed to facilitate reproduction.

3. Feeding technology

(1) spawning: wild breeding birds generally mate and lay eggs in spring and autumn. Artificial breeding of wild pigeons can use the method of artificial injection of estrogen into female birds to promote their short-term oestrus and enable them to lay eggs every month.

(2) hatching: the postpartum eggs are collected and put into the incubator for artificial hatching. The temperature and relative humidity should be adjusted during hatching to ensure that the shell rate is more than 98% (turtledoves rarely have unfertilized eggs).

(3) nestling management: nestlings should pay attention to keep warm and drink water in time when they are just hatched. 2000K potassium permanganate solution is selected as drinking water and replaced every 4 hours. After the nestling comes out of the shell, generally 6 to 8 hours have foraging behavior, food is best to choose millet or small, digestible food, can also use chick pellet feed. After 1 week, 20% of beneficial seeds, rice and other plant seeds can be added to the feed ratio.

4. Post-management technology.

(1) Disease prevention and control: due to the high density of artificial breeding and easy to infect diseases, sanitary work in the cage should be done, disinfection should be done regularly, feces should be cleaned in time, and epidemic prevention should be carried out regularly. Diseased birds should be isolated and treated, dead birds should be buried or burned, and all birds in the cage should be disinfected.

(2) the growth period of wild pigeons sold at the right time is very short. Wild pigeons raised can be sold at the age of 4 to 5 weeks and mature sexually after 4 months.
