I often see the post "crayfish are fed on contraceptive, and eating too much will lead to infertility." It is hard not to believe such rumors. So what is the truth? Is it true that the crayfish we eat are raised on contraceptives?

In fact, this statement has no scientific basis.

1. The growth cycle of crayfish is very short. Generally, crayfish can be put on the market in about 3 months, and there is no need for birth. If a large number of hormones are used, it will increase the shelling frequency of crayfish, slow down the growth rate, and prolong the growth cycle of crayfish. So farmers won't do this.

2. Crayfish belong to lower invertebrates, and contraceptive of higher vertebrates has no effect on them at all.

3. The sexual maturity of crayfish is generally 8 to 10 months, which means that when crayfish are on the market, they are still early from the breeding period and have no ability to reproduce at all. Raising shrimp with contraceptive can only increase the cost.
