Cordyceps sinensis is a perennial herb native to North America. It is a very interesting insectivorous plant, so how to raise it?

1. Soil

Cordyceps prefers sour soil. It can be configured with peat without adding fertilizer, granular matter, in a proportion of 1:1. The matrix must be replaced every spring, and the bottom of the basin should be shredded.

Second, lighting

Full sunshine can be provided in spring, autumn and winter, and 50% shade should be added or placed on the indoor sunny windowsill in summer in the south. If there is no sunlight for a long time, it can be cultivated under artificial light above the plant 30cm with a 40W lamp for 12 hours per day.

Third, watering

Try to use pure water, Rain Water and other soft water. The basin immersion method is used to create a small environment similar to the original place. the specific method is to place the Cordyceps sinensis basin in a tray or glass tank, fill it with water to the depth of 3cm, and replenish it regularly.

Fourth, feeding

They will hunt on their own initiative. Usually, you can feed insects, spiders and other small animals on 2 leaves. It is difficult for them to digest meat such as beef and chicken.

5. Fertilization

The root system of insectivorous plants is extremely intolerant to salt, and direct application of fertilizer into the substrate will lead to the death of the plant, so low concentration liquid fertilizer should be sprayed on the leaves. If the foliage plant fertilizer sold in the market is used, it can be applied at the recommended concentration of 1 to 5, and sprayed every 2 weeks in the growing season.

Cordyceps sinensis is known as the carnivorous plant in nature. Its main feature is the ability to quickly close its leaves to prey on insects, a carnivorous plant like its distant relative, the pitcher plant.
