Characteristics of pseudopregnant sows
In the breeding process of sows, pseudopregnancy is often encountered. Once the phenomenon of sow pseudopregnancy occurs, the loss to the farm is very large. Therefore, if you want to reduce the cost of breeding and increase the income of farmers, you must learn to identify whether sows are really pregnant. So what are the characteristics of pseudo-pregnant sows? Farmers can judge from the following three aspects.
1) Appetite
Sows will have an increased appetite after conception. If sows on the farm are found to have a sudden increase in appetite and eat faster and more than other sows, then the sow is pregnant. If the sow does not appear to be anxious when eating the feed, but eats slowly, and the amount of food is not much different from before, then it can basically be judged that this is false pregnancy.
II. Preferences
Pregnant sows prefer to sleep quietly rather than move around more than nonpregnant sows. If the sow shows quiet, prone to prone rest symptoms, then the probability of pregnancy is very high. On the contrary, if the sow still walks around after eating, it obviously does not conform to the characteristics of pregnant sows.
III. Boar
Within 1 month after breeding, boars can be used to detect, if the sow does not have any reaction, the probability of pregnancy is greater. If the sow is abnormally excited and shows signs of estrus, it can be determined that the sow is not pregnant. The farmer can prepare the sow for the next breeding round so that she can get pregnant as soon as possible.
In the process of breeding sows, farmers must master the method of judging whether sows are pregnant, check out pseudo-pregnant sows as soon as possible, and make up in time. And sows have individual differences, the characteristics may be different, so when farmers are more suspicious of a sow, they can also use advanced technology to assist judgment, in case they miss the health care period of sows.
