How do turtles spend the winter?

The tortoise hibernates through the winter. It begins to hibernate below 15 ℃ and begins to feed when the water temperature rises above 16 ℃. Under normal circumstances, as long as the water temperature is not lower than 4 ℃, you can survive the winter safely.

II. Disease control of turtles

1. Enteritis

Enteritis is often caused by intestinal bacterial infection caused by water pollution or feed deterioration. The symptom is that the head of the diseased turtle often looks around, the feces are sticky with blood red, and very fishy. Loss of appetite, weight loss.

Treatment: change water many times a day and feed fresh bait; intramuscular injection of chlortetracycline or chloramphenicol, 0.5 ml per sick turtle, the injection volume of turtles weighing more than 0.5 kg can be increased to 1 ml for 3 consecutive days. And a small amount of chloramphenicol or dysentery was added to the diet.

two。 Soft body disease

Soft diseases are mostly caused by malnutrition and lack of sunlight. The symptoms are loss of appetite, general weakness, mental malaise, dull movement and slow growth.

Treatment: feed with palatable and nutritious full-price feed, add calcium tablets to the feed, enhance sunshine hours, exposure to sunlight 2-3 times a day.

3. Ophthalmopathy

Eye injury or because of poor water quality, irritates the eyes and causes the diseased turtles to wipe their eyes with their forelimbs and become infected with bacteria. The disease is more common in red-eared turtles, yellow-throated turtles, yellow-edge closed-shell turtles, spotted water turtles and so on, and the incidence of young turtles is higher. The epidemic season is spring, autumn and spring after overwintering.

4. Enemy harm

The natural enemies of turtles are mainly mice, snakes and some birds. Rats are the most harmful and can bite or even kill turtles. Ants often crawl and eat cracked turtle eggs, so in culture management, attention should be paid to prevent the invasion of these natural enemies.

Turtle feed is more extensive, strictly speaking, turtle feed is more extensive than soft-shelled turtle diet, mainly: animal feed, plant feed and mixed feed.
