Peony parrot, also known as lovebird, 13-17 cm long, weight 40-60 grams, is the smallest parrot species. The body feathers of most peony parrots are mainly green, while artificial breeding and varieties will appear in a variety of colors. So, how do peony parrots breed?

How do peony parrots breed?

Peony parrots reproduce through eggs and can reproduce all the year round. Only females hatch their eggs. The first egg is laid about 10 days after mating, and another egg is laid every other day. A litter lays about 4-6 eggs. The eggs can be fertilized after 6-7 days. The incubation period is about 21-23 days, and the feathers of the young birds can grow after 30-35 days.

Second, how do peony parrots divide male and female?

1. Watch the head type: the male bird head type is the back head, the tip of the head, and the head is slightly smaller. The female's head is flat, smooth and pure round, which is slightly larger than that of the male.

2. Look at the figure: the male is thin, tight-haired, active and fierce, with eyes far from the top of his head and small eyes. The female is fatter, the hair is a little loose, not very active, the rim of the eye is close to the top of the head, and the eyes are bigger.

3. Lying bar posture: the male bird stands upright on the bar, holding his head high, and showing vigor. The horizontal bar of the female bird is recumbent, grilled on the bar, gentle.

4. Look at the tip of the tail feather: the tail feather tip of the male bird is pointed, and the tail feather tip of the female is W type. The tail feathers of male birds are V-shaped.

5. Touch cloaca with hand: male cloaca shows small distance between pubic bone and interesting protuberance (i.e. cusp). The female can touch the pelvis with a large gap, and the fingers can feel the unraised and flat parts.

The peony parrot gets its name because of its affectionate nature. it will be close to its partner, snuggle up to each other, and will stay together for life.
