Bread worm is yellow mealworm, this worm is rich in fat and protein, but also contains other nutrients, human can eat, can also be used as feed to feed scorpions, centipedes, gecko, snakes, turtles, bullfrogs and so on. So, how do bread bugs breed?

1. How to raise bread worms?

1, tools: can use the old washbasin as a breeding tool, the old washbasin requirements without holes, smooth inner wall, if the inner wall is not smooth, can paste a circle of tape, surrounded by a smooth belt, to prevent insects from escaping. You also need to prepare a 60-mesh sieve. When breeding, it should be placed in a warm, ventilated, dry, dark, clean and chemical-free place.

2, seed selection: to select a large, strong vitality, bright color larvae species, put into the washbasin feeding, ordinary washbasin can raise larvae 0.3~0.6 kg, summer high temperature feeding density to be smaller, winter density can be slightly larger.

3, feed: can feed wheat bran, corn flour and other feed, feed amount of 10%~20% of the worm weight, can also be 3~5 days can be eaten by larvae. After the insects finish eating the feed, sift out the insect feces with a 60-mesh sieve, and then continue to feed the feed, and appropriately add some vegetables and melon skins and other feeds with high moisture content.

4, management: bread worms are relatively cold, but the optimal temperature for breeding larvae is 25~29℃, less than 10℃ rarely active, below 0℃ or above 35℃ there is a risk of freezing or heat death. The ideal moisture content of feed is 15%, and the air humidity is 50%-80%. Attention should be paid to the prevention and control of dry disease, rot disease (soft rot), blackhead disease, mites and other pests, but also to prevent rats, birds, geckos, ants and so on.

How do bread bugs reproduce?

The bread worm is oviparous. The adults mated 3 or 4 days after emergence and laid eggs within 30 days after emergence. Its life can be divided into four stages: egg, larva, pupa and adult. The eggs are oval, milky white, with stripes on the surface; the newly hatched larvae are milky white and then turn yellow; the pupae are white translucent at the beginning, the body is soft, and gradually brown and then hardened; the adults are flat and oblong, the elytra is beige at the beginning, and turns reddish brown after 3 hours, and turns dark brown after 3-4 days.
