There are many kinds of turtles, grass turtles as omnivorous animals, there are many friends will raise. So for novice farmers, do you know how grass turtles spend their hibernation? Let's have a look together!

1. How do turtles hibernate

Grass turtles go into hibernation in winter when the temperature drops. It is slow to respond to touch, vibration and stimulation. When hibernating, glans shrink in the shell, limbs and tails do not shrink in the shell, lying in the deep water of the pool or under the stone seams and grass piles on the shore.

What do grass turtles eat

Grass turtles are omnivorous animals, mainly small fish and shrimp (dried shrimp can be used), lean meat (note: do not eat fat, easy indigestion), small insects, rice, vegetables, fruits, turtle feed (eat less feed, mostly have additives) and so on. They tend to be meat when they are young and vegetarian when they are adults.

If your turtles are new here, they may not eat right away. This is normal. Don't worry. As long as the water temperature in the tank is right, grass turtles will naturally eat after they are familiar with the new environment.

Compared with other pet turtles, grass turtles adapt to the new environment faster.
