The scientific name of the golden snail is Fushou snail, also known as big bottle snail and apple snail. In 1984, Oncomelania hupensis as a special breeding object was widely promoted in Guangdong Province, and was quickly introduced to Guangxi, Fujian, Sichuan, Yunnan, Zhejiang and other places. So, how does the golden snail reproduce?

First, how to reproduce golden snails

The mode of reproduction of golden snail is oviposition, which belongs to hermaphroditism. It begins to lay eggs in mid-March in Xishuangbanna, and it takes only 2-3 months to achieve sexual maturation. In vivo fertilization, female and male snails are twisted together for mating for 2-5 hours; if they are disturbed by touch during mating, they will stop immediately.

Second, the living habits of golden snail

Oncomelania hupensis likes to live in fresh water with fresh water and sufficient bait, and many groups live in the shallow water by the pool, or adsorb on the stems and leaves of aquatic plants, or float on the surface of the water, and can leave the water for a short life. The most suitable water temperature for growth is 2532 ℃, more than 35 ℃, and the growth rate decreases obviously. the highest critical water temperature is 45 ℃ and the lowest critical water temperature is 5 ℃. Fushou snail has a wide range of food, which is mainly omnivorous snails based on plant bait, mainly eating duckweed, vegetables, melons and fruits, especially sweet food and animal carrion in the water. When there is no more food, it eats tiny substances floating on the surface of the water (the body feeds upside down with foot movement). Although the snail is an aquatic mollusk species, it can be buried in wet mud for 6 to 8 months in the dry season. Once they are flooded or irrigated, they can come alive again. The respirator of adult snails can be extended to 5~10cm or longer.
