The difference between Anhui grass turtle and Chinese grass turtle

Chinese grass turtle is also known as tortoise, golden tortoise, golden tortoise and so on. People in Japan, the Philippines, Europe and the United States regard it as a symbol of "auspiciousness and longevity". So do you know the difference between Anhui grass turtle and Chinese grass turtle?

I. the difference between Anhui grass turtle and Chinese grass turtle

Anhui grass turtle toenail is relatively smooth, the growth pattern is not obvious, silver thread, there is slight water rust. Chinese turtle toenail slightly raised, there are three longitudinal edges, ridge edges are obvious. The neck, limbs and exposed skin are grayish black or black olive.

Second, how to distinguish between male and female

Generally speaking, the more round body is female, and the longer one is male. The flat floor is female and the concave one is male. The short tail is female and the long tail is male.

Grass turtles mate in a male upper and lower female position, in order to avoid slipping from the female shell during mating, so the male's abdominal armour is slightly sunken, just enough to hold the protruding dorsal shell of the female turtle; but the female turtle does not need this structure, so the belly is flat. You can see that as long as you turn the tortoise over and touch the extent of your belly nail with your fingers, you can quickly tell the difference between male and female.

The pattern on the belly of the male turtle is sparse, while that of the female tortoise is dense. The female tortoise has a short and wide dorsal armour, a flat center without depression, a thin and short tail, a thin tail base, a cloacal foramen close to the posterior edge of the ventral nail, and a shallow and large angle of the two anal shields.

Male tortoise: the dorsal armour is long and narrow, the ventral nail is slightly sunken in the center, the tail is thick and long, the tail base is thick, the cloacal foramen is far from the posterior edge of the ventral nail, the two anal shields of the abdominal nail form a deeper engraving and a smaller angle. Note that the male turtle turns black when it matures, while the female turtle is still brown. A small number of female turtles turn black when they mature.

Chinese grass turtle has the characteristics of fast growth, strong disease resistance, high meat yield, delicious taste and high ornamental, especially in recent years, the number of wild Chinese grass turtle has decreased, and the market price of Chinese grass turtle remains high, so it is favored by farmers.
