How to breed grass turtles

In mid-April every year, male and female grass turtles mate in the water. Female turtles lay eggs between May and August. Each female turtle lays eggs three to four times a year, with five to seven eggs at a time. Female turtles lay their eggs in sand not far from the water's edge. After 50 to 80 days of natural hatching, the baby turtles come out of their shells and can go into the water and live on their own. Grass turtles can grow to about 23 centimeters long. The average life expectancy is fifty years. Compared with other common turtles, grass turtles grow more slowly and are much smaller.
