At present, many farms are raising pigs, the economic benefit is relatively high, and the sales volume of the market is also relatively stable. Breeding needs breeding first, so what are the skills of artificial insemination in raising pigs?

First, identify that estrus is the first pass.

According to the performance of sows and the changes of reproductive organs, estrus can be divided into three stages.

1. Proestrus: sows show restlessness, loss of appetite, singing, crawling across other sows, dilated vulva, reddish vaginal mucosa, but do not accept boar climbing, this period lasts 12 to 36 hours.

two。 Mid-estrus: sows continue to show restlessness, severe loss of appetite or abstinence, sometimes stand still, tremble in both ears, and sometimes follow other sows, the vulva is swollen, vaginal mucosa is crimson, mucus is thin and transparent, willing to accept boar climbing and mating, static reflex! This period lasts 6-36 hours, which is the best time for insemination.

3. Late estrus: sows tend to stabilize, vulva begins to contract, vaginal mucosa is lilac, mucus is thick, do not want to accept boar climb, this period lasts 12-24 hours.

2. Key points of manual operation

Before insemination, the operator washes his hands and rinses the steamed and sterilized semen equipment (30,50ml glass syringes and semen hoses) with a small amount of diluent. The semen was heated to 35-38 ℃ at a rate of 1 ℃ every 2 minutes; 0.1% potassium permanganate solution was used to disinfect the vulva of sows.

Then open the vulva door of the sow with one hand, insert the vas deferens into the vagina in the other hand, push about 10 cm oblique upward, and then push about 30 cm horizontally. When the hand feeling can no longer be pushed, it shows that the vas deferens has been inserted into the cervix. Semen can be injected slowly. If semen countercurrent occurs, the injection can be suspended, and then injected after the vas deferens is active, until the vas deferens is finished, and then slowly extracted.

Third, grasp the "heat" to ensure "high yield"

In general, sows begin to ovulate 24-36 hours after estrus, the duration of ovulation is 10-15 hours, and the time for ovulated eggs to maintain fertilization ability is 8-12 hours. The time for sperm to maintain fertilization ability in the reproductive organs of sows is 10-20 hours, and the time for sperm to reach the fertilization site (ampulla of fallopian tube) after mating is 2-3 hours.

According to the calculation, the suitable time for mating or insemination is 20-30 hours after estrus in sows. Mating too early, when the egg is excreted, the sperm has lost the ability to fertilize; when the mating is too late, when the sperm enters the reproductive tract of the sow, the egg has lost the ability to fertilize, both of which will affect the conception rate, even if the fertilization is not strong, it may die halfway because of the low motility of the zygote. However, it is generally impossible to grasp the exact time of estrus and acceptance of boar climbing in production practice.

Therefore, in production practice, as long as the sow can accept boar climbing (can use back reflex or boar trial), it will be matched for the first time. After the first mating, after 12-20 hours, the second mating. Generally speaking, you can mate twice in a period of estrus. More mating can not increase the litter size, or even have side effects. The key is to master the appropriate time for mating. In order to accurately judge the suitable mating time, the trial boar should be used to treat the sow twice a day in the morning and evening.

When mating, it needs to be carefully managed by the staff, and there can be no mistakes. So as not to affect the next generation.
