Nicotiana tabacum is a member of Arthropoda, Gnathoda, Hexapoda, Insecta, Ptera, Coleoptera, Scolinoidea and Scolopsidae. So how does the tobacco beetle breed?

How does tobacco beetle breed?

The optimum conditions for the development of tobacco beetles are temperature 30℃ and relative humidity 70%. It takes about 24 days to complete its life cycle under these optimum conditions. The eggs are laid in the crevices of tobacco leaves or in the depressions of grain grains, one at a time.

2. Habits of tobacco insects

Adults have phototaxis. The newly hatched larvae are more active, feeding on mesophyll and leaving epidermis; the larvae are hiding in the shade or storage to feed or cook tobacco stems, tobacco handles, etc. The larvae of Nicotiana tabacum L. have 5-6 instars. Ten different ages 4 or 7. Cultivation is the fastest, mature secretions linked to food, debris in the crevices of white tough cocoon fixed on the host surface, pupation in which some can pupate without cocooning. Natural enemies are rice elephant golden wasp and so on.

3. Control methods of tobacco pests

1. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the warehouse. Old and new grain should not be mixed. 2. In cold areas, the temperature of the warehouse can be reduced to-3℃ in winter. After 7 days and nights, most larvae will be frozen to death. 3. When tobacco leaves are put into storage, they should be strictly inspected for insect conditions. Those with insects should be treated first and then put into storage. 4. The tobacco leaves stored for about 2 years should be sealed with plastic film and concentrated as far as possible. When the insect population density is large, phosphine gas can be used for fumigation. 5. Because of the insect's phototaxis, the installation of trap lamps in the warehouse can not only kill pests, but also reduce the pollution of insects to stored smoke.

Tobacco A has a wide range of feeding habits, damaging tobacco, tea, cereals, beans, dried dates, oil, animal and plant specimens, cocoa beans, leather and rattan bamboo products, especially tobacco commodities.
