Shearing quantity adult ram 5~6kg, adult ewe 2.5~3.6kg, wool length 7~8cm, fineness 50-58, net wool rate about 60%, coat white, but occasionally a small amount of colored fiber can be found. 2. Tibetan sheep

Under the condition of natural grazing, the slaughtering rate of Tibetan sheep with moderate nutritional status is between 42-49%, and the slaughtering rate of eunuchs is higher than that of males and ewes. There is no significant difference in slaughtering rates between one-year-old sheep and adult sheep. The net meat percentage is about 30%, and some can reach 37%. The meat is tender and delicious, and it is one of the main meat foods for herdsmen.

3. Tan sheep

The main producing areas of Tan sheep are in Ningxia and its adjacent semi-arid desert steppe and arid steppe. The adult ram weighs about 47 kg and the ewe 35 kg. The adult sheep are of medium physique, strong physique, resistant to rough feeding, the lambing rate is 101-103%, the meat is tender, the fat is evenly distributed, and the taste is small, so it is very popular in the northwest.

2. Fattening techniques of mutton sheep

1. House feeding and fattening

According to the state before fattening, the sheep diet was prepared according to the feed nutritional value of the feeding standard, and it was a fattening way to feed and drink completely in the sheep shed. Although the feed input of house feeding and fattening is relatively high, large-scale, intensive and factory sheep can be raised according to the needs of the market. This can make full use of the premises, equipment and labor force, and the efficiency of labor production is also higher. This fattening method can increase the weight of sheep faster during the fattening period, and the live weight of fattening sheep is 10% and 20% higher than that of grazing and mixed fattening sheep. In the case of market demand, it can ensure that the fattening sheep can quickly reach the market standard in 30-60 days.

In general, the ratio of 45% of mixed concentrate and 55% of coarse feed and other feed content is more suitable for house fattening diet. If you want to increase the fattening intensity, the content of the mixed concentrate can be increased to 60%, but never more than 60%. We must pay attention to prevent enterotoxemia caused by this, as well as urinary stones due to the imbalance of calcium and phosphorus.

2. Mixed fattening

There are generally two forms: one is that during the whole fattening period, sheep are grazed and fed with a certain amount of mixed concentrate every day to ensure the nutritional needs of fattening sheep; the other is to divide the whole fattening period into two or three stages, full grazing in the early stage, and gradually increase the amount of mixed concentrate in the middle and later stages according to the principle from less to more, and then combine with other feeds to fattening. The mixed concentrate of fattening sheep was 200 grams per day at the beginning, and increased to 400 grams and 500 grams per day in the last month. The former method is suitable for lambs with higher growth intensity and faster weight gain, while the latter is suitable for lambs with lower growth intensity and slower weight gain and one-year-old sheep.

Mixed fattening can increase the weight gain of fattening sheep by about 50% over the whole fattening period, and the taste of mutton after slaughtering is also better.

Only by ensuring the quality of mutton sheep breeds and fattening scientifically can the economic benefits be really improved.
