Quail is a kind of beloved poultry with fast growth, more mature and premature eggs, less feed and faster production. Quail meat is good, sales are stable, is a better choice for the breeding industry, so how to raise quail?

First, hatching eggs

Hatching eggs can be hatched by pigeons or hens. If you hatch eggs with hens, it is better to choose hens with smaller individuals so as not to crush the eggs. A hen can hatch 30 quail eggs at a time, so choose to store the eggs within 7 days to hatch. It can also be hatched artificially in the same way as hatching eggs. The baby quail will be born after 17 days of incubation.

2. Brooding methods

Newborn chicks weigh only 6-7 grams, have poor resistance and are afraid of cold. Therefore, the feeding of young quails should not be too early, and it is more appropriate to feed them 36 hours after birth. Keep the temperature at 38-38.6 ℃ for 1-2 days, and then lower by 0.5 ℃ per day. When it drops to 25 °C, keep the temperature constant. Quail feed requirements are not high, generally with rice bran, wheat bran, bean cake, chopped rice, corn, fish meal mixed with chopped green succulent feed such as green leaves, mixed into thick porridge. In addition, some egg shell powder and bone powder should be added to the feed. It is best to stir-fry in the pot before feeding, so that it is easy to digest after feeding and the feed utilization rate is high. The feeding should be timed, 4-5 times during the day and 2-3 times at night. Young quails are prone to enteritis, white dysentery, paratyphoid fever and infectious bronchitis. Therefore, food utensils should be disinfected regularly, feces should be removed every day, and appropriate amounts of antibiotics can be mixed in feed and drinking water to allow the chicks to eat freely. Generally, nestling quails can be caged after more than 20 days.

It is generally better to keep quails in cage. Cages can be made of bamboo and wood. It is 100 cm long, 20 cm wide and 22 cm high. A 2-5 cm thick dung board should be placed at the bottom of the cage. The four corners of the cage are made of bamboo or wood with four feet 12 cm high. Such a large cage can be divided into 10 squares, each of which can keep a quail. Help the editor of the Rural Network remind that quails are sexually fond of jumping, and the top of the cage should cover old cloth or bags, soft paper, etc., in order to avoid head injuries when quails fly upward. Rectangular troughs and sinks should be set outside the cage. If you raise a large number of quails, the cages can be stacked with 6-7 layers. Generally, about 500 quails can be raised in a shed per square meter.

III. Daily management

Daily feeding should be regularly quantified to prevent feed waste and always keep clean drinking water. The chicks should be fed with cold boiled water and anti-enteritis antibiotics. Tableware and drinking utensils should be disinfected regularly to prevent them from getting sick. Bedding should be used in the cage. Quails are easily frightened by sexual timidity, so it is best to keep them in a quieter place to minimize interference. Quails begin to lay eggs after 40-50 days of feeding, and female quails can be eliminated for consumption after 1-2 years. During the laying period of quails, animal damage should be prevented. Egg-laying female quails can first mate 20 days after the beginning of laying eggs. During mating, male quails raised in separate cages are put into female quails for mating, and male quails are put forward after mating.
