The high temperature in summer is a difficult difficulty for sheep farmers, because this factor will not only reduce the appetite of sheep, but also easily cause a variety of diseases, resulting in reduced production and income of farmers. What are the precautions for captive goats in summer? Do a good job at these four points, the sheep will gain weight even if they don't get sick!

Matters needing attention for captive goats in summer

1. Prevent heat and cool down

Arbor shading: materials such as sunshade nets or colored steel tiles can be used to build an Arbor so that sheep can have a place to rest during the high temperature at noon.

Physical cooling: qualified sheep farmers can install cooling facilities in the sheepfold for physical cooling, such as electric fans, exhaust fans, or better facilities such as cooling water curtains and chillers.

2. Pay attention to the hygiene of the sheep house

The high temperature in summer makes it easy to breed bacteria in the sheepfold. Farmers should clean the droppings of the sheepfold every day or regularly, and do regular disinfection to ensure smooth ventilation, which can reduce the irritating smell and the humidity of the pen.

In addition to paying attention to the hygiene of the sheepfold, the work of mosquito prevention and control should also be done well, because mosquitoes will not only spread some diseases, but also seriously affect the normal rest of sheep, and have a greater impact on the health and growth of sheep. Therefore, farmers should regularly use drugs to spray inside and outside the sheep house to eliminate mosquitoes and flies. Mosquito-repellent incense or mosquito smoke can be used to eliminate mosquitoes and flies.

3. Pay attention to the way of feeding

First of all, the feeding density of sheep must be reduced in summer, because sheep experience heat dissipation, when the feeding density of sheep is too crowded, sheep are more likely to be threatened by heat stress. Usually one sheep occupies 2 square meters of sheep shed, but in summer, one sheep will occupy 3-4 square meters of sheep shed, and it is best to raise sheep of different sizes and uses separately.

In addition, sheep with higher temperatures in summer also need more water, so there must be an adequate supply of clean drinking water, preferably 24 hours a day. In addition, adding vitamin C or electrolyte to drinking water can also alleviate the heat stress response of sheep to some extent.

Finally, in summer, the sheep should be fed to avoid the high temperature. They can be fed at five or six o'clock in the morning, after sunset in the evening, and some green and succulent feed during the day. This can increase the feed intake of sheep. And the cool weather after eating is conducive to sheep's rumination, digestion and growth.

4. Do a good job in disease prevention and treatment

Most vaccinations for sheep disease are concentrated in the spring and autumn, and if they are not vaccinated in both periods, they should be arranged in the summer. The common sheep diseases in summer are mainly rotten hoof disease and diarrhea, which are mostly caused by the dampness of the enclosure. After the onset of the disease, we should find ways to reduce the humidity of the enclosure, trim the hoof or smear disinfectant and inject antibiotics to treat it.

Summer is the most difficult season for sheep. Only by doing a good job in sheepfold management during this period can we lay a good foundation for the quality and output of commercial sheep.
