[Introduction·China Vegetable Network] At 8:30 a.m. that day, before I came to the Food Safety Testing Center, Xiao Cai, a staff member, had selected 10 batches of vegetables such as tomatoes, lettuce, Shanghai green and celery from the vegetable market. She took samples and packed them in white plastic bags. She indicated the merchants and stalls to which the samples belonged on each package.

Recently, I heard that Shishi Yuhu Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market has set up a food safety testing center, which is also equipped with a set of advanced testing instruments. Out of curiosity, I came to the center to find out.

At 8:30 a.m. that day, before I came to the food safety testing center, Xiao Cai, a staff member, had selected 10 batches of vegetables such as tomatoes, lettuce, Shanghai green and celery from the vegetable market. She took samples and packed them in white plastic bags. She indicated the merchants and stalls to which the samples belonged on each packaging bag. Xiao Cai took stems and leaves from each sample, put them into small glass tubes respectively, add them into water bath to heat according to requirements, and add a certain amount of buffer solution, chromogenic agent and cholinesterase. The whole process took about half an hour.

I learned that in order to ensure the safety of the "tip of the tongue", Yuhu Community actively cooperated with the work of relevant departments and established a food safety testing center. In recent years, our city has paid more and more attention to food safety, successively established food safety testing rooms in major farmers 'markets, and purchased pesticide residue detection and food safety detectors.

"We mainly test vegetables for pesticide residues." Xiao Cai told me that this work is what she must do every morning. So far, Yuhu Food Safety Testing Center has not seen any vegetables with pesticide residues, and said that the center will put the daily test results on the display screen on the outdoor wall for the public to understand.

"In September 2015, our city purchased a certain number of testing instruments, and selected some supermarkets and fruit and vegetable markets in our city as pilot projects to carry out testing work, among which our center is one." Wu Yangu, deputy secretary of the Yuhu Community Party Committee, told me. Since the introduction of this set of instruments, the staff insisted on taking 10 samples every day, which made the detection work more convenient, the number more, and the results more accurate. Every morning, the inspectors will randomly sample several vegetables or meat from the market for testing to see if pesticide residues exceed the standard or formaldehyde exceeds the standard, and publish the test results so that the common people can buy and eat at ease.
