Angelica sinensis alias qin gui, is a commonly used traditional chinese medicine, with blood, blood circulation, pain, moistening effect, mainly produced in gansu, shaanxi, yunnan, sichuan and other provinces, shaanxi most areas have cultivation, its cultivation techniques are described as follows.

morphological characteristics

Angelica sinensis is a perennial herb with a height of 0.4- 1 meter. Roots fleshy, conical, mostly branched after cultivation. After planting the second year, the stem is erect, l-1.2 meters high, light purple (a few are pale). The leaves are 2-3 pinnate compound leaves, and the petiole base is sheathed. Terminal compound umbel, floret white. The fruit is an oval double hanging fruit, which dehisces after maturity. Flowering from June to July, fruiting from August to September.

growth habit

Angelica sinensis is an alpine plant, which requires cool and humid climate conditions. It has the characteristics of being fond of fertilizer, afraid of waterlogging and afraid of high temperature. It is not easy to grow in summer in low altitude areas and die easily when the temperature is too high. Seeds germinate well at 10-25℃ and emerge in 10-15 days. Angelica sinensis has the phenomenon of early bolting, which should be overcome in production. Generally, seedling transplanting can be harvested in the third year.

cultivation techniques

1. Land selection and preparation

Choose a gentle slope with a half shade and half sun from south to north, requiring loose soil and good structure. Small full before deep turning 1, broken soil for seedbed, bed width 1 meter, long varies according to terrain. Drains are 30 cm wide and 15-20 cm deep between beds. The planting land should be deeply ploughed and carefully harrowed, 2500-5000 kg of base fertilizer should be applied per mu, and the soil should be turned evenly, and the high ridge should be made, and the width of the ridge should be 1.2-1.5 meters. The furrow is 30 cm wide and 20 cm deep.

2. Reproductive methods

Seedling transplanting is often used in production. The sowing date should be determined according to the altitude and temperature of each place. Gansu, Sichuan and Yunnan are about July, and Shaanxi is about August. Sowing method is broadcast, seeds mixed with ash are scattered on the surface of the ridge, slightly suppressed, covered with a small amount of fine wet soil, covered with grass, so as to achieve light transmission and moisture retention, and the seedling age does not exceed 110 days. Sowing rate 4-5 kg per mu. Transplanting is divided into winter planting and spring planting, with plant spacing of 25 cm X 25 cm. Spring planting should be done before and after Qingming Festival, winter planting should be done after cold dew and before frost. Seed direct seeding method can be used in winter, spring and autumn to control early bolting of Angelica sinensis. Winter direct seeding method is better, but the yield is not high.

3. Field management

① Seedling management: After sowing, the soil must be kept moist to facilitate seed germination. About 40 days to pick pine cover grass. When the seedling height is about 3 cm, loosen the soil once, pull out the weeds immediately, after the summer, select cloudy days to remove all the grass. Pay attention to drought prevention and drainage in seedling stage.

② Seedling storage: When the temperature drops to about 5℃ from cold dew to frost, dig up the seedlings, tie them into small handles with some soil, dry them to remove water for storage or stacking. If the seedlings are too old, they should not be stacked. When stacking, pay attention to placing them with their heads facing outward and their roots facing inward.

3. Thinning of seedlings: Under normal circumstances, after about 20 days after transplanting, seedlings should be thinned and supplemented, and seedlings with soil should be replanted on rainy days. About 3 months after planting, the seedlings were fixed, the diseased seedlings and weak seedlings were removed, and 1 plant was reserved for each hole.

4. Intertillage and weeding: in mid-May, carry out the first weeding, shallow hoe should be carried out, and the soil should not be buried. In mid-June, the second time weeding, deep hoe can be used to promote root development.

5 bolting: after transplanting, the flowering plants of that year are called early bolting, and the roots are not medicinal and should be completely uprooted.

6 topdressing: Angelica sinensis is a fertile plant. Phosphorus, potassium and ammonia fertilizer should be applied in late June and early August root growth period.
