Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Plantago asiatica, also known as Plantago asiatica and Plantago asiatica, is an annual or biennial herb of Plantago asiatica. It is born in grasslands, beaches, ditches, meadows, fields and roadsides. It is distributed in most parts of China. Young plants are edible and beneficial.

Plantago is also known as tea grass, flat car, etc., is an annual or biennial herb, born in grassland, river beach, ditch edge, meadow, field and roadside, 5~4500 meters above sea level, distributed in most parts of our country, young plants can be eaten, with diuretic, clear heat, eyesight, expectorant effect, let's take a look at plantain planting technology!

Plantain planting conditions

Plantain adaptability is strong, in China from south to north mountain fields, roadside riverside, everywhere. Plantago is cold-resistant, drought-tolerant, and has no strict soil requirements. It can grow well in warm, humid, sunny, sandy fertile soil. The stem and leaf can grow normally in the range of 20~24℃, but if the temperature exceeds 32℃, it will grow slowly and gradually wither until the whole plant dies. The slightly acidic sandy alluvial loam soil is better.

Plantain planting technology

1. Soil preparation and fertilization: It is good to choose moist and fertile sandy loam. Plantain roots are mainly distributed in the 10~20 cm tillage layer, so the soil preparation should be careful. plowing 15~20 cm, breaking soil blocks for beds, 1 m wide and 10~15 m long, applying organic matter base fertilizer 4000 kg per mu.

2. Timely sowing: the method of drilling is simple, labor and effort are saved, the row spacing is 15~20 cm, and the plant spacing is 6~7 cm. Open shallow ditch, deep 1~1.5 cm, cover less soil after sowing, so as not to see seeds, and suppress once to prevent soil evaporation, which is beneficial to seed germination. Because seed germinates slowly, if soil is dry, can spray water 2~3 days after sowing, current should be small, after water dry ground shallow loose soil, avoid exposing seed. 10 - 15 days after sowing. The amount of seed used per mu is 0.3~0.5 kg.

Plantain field management

1. Thinning and weeding: after seedling completion, weed shall be removed in time in combination with thinning. When seedling height is 6~7 cm, seedling can be harvested for food in combination with thinning. Plantain seeds are small, grow slowly after emergence, and are easily inhibited by weeds. Therefore, weeding should be carried out in time during seedling stage, generally 3~4 times a year.

2. Reasonable topdressing: plantain likes fertilizer. After fertilization, there are many leaves, many ears and long ears, and high yield. Generally, three topdressing times are carried out. In May, the first time, 1500 kg of thin human and animal manure water is applied per mu. The second time in early July, apply 10 kg diammonium phosphate per mu. After the third seed harvest, 1500 kg of manure was applied per mu.

3. Disease and pest control: plantain diseases mainly include powdery mildew, a layer of gray powder appears on the surface or back of leaves, and finally leaves die. At the beginning of disease, spray 50% methyl thiophane 1000 times solution for control.

4. Harvesting and processing: plantain seeds are used as medicine. When the fruits are mature, harvest the ears, rub out the seeds after drying, and clean the impurities. The dry seeds per mu yield is 40~50 kg.
