Clinical Application of Verbena
1. Treatment of malaria: Take 60~ 150g of fresh verbena (half of dry product), add water to make 300ml, take it 4 hours and 2 hours before attack, take it for 2~4 days, and use 15g of dry whole herb each time (children should reduce it), take it once a day, take it twice in water, take it for 6 days. 48 hours after symptoms disappeared, plasmodium was negative in 33 patients, and the effective rate was 92%.
2, treatment of diphtheria: take dry verbena (whole grass) 30 grams, concentrated decoction into about 300 ml. Adults 150 ml each time, twice a day, children 8~14 years old, 100 ml each time, twice a day, under 8 years old 50 ml each time, 3~4 times a day, are continuously taken for 3~5 days. 50 cases of diphtheria were cured. The average time of fever reduction was 15.3 hours, pseudomembrane disappearance time was 2.2 days, throat swab culture time was 2.4 days, and average hospital stay was 4.6 days.
3. Treatment of infectious hepatitis: take 500 grams of verbena and make 800 ml of decoction, 40~50 ml for adults and 20~30 ml for children, all taken 3 times a day, 80 cases were treated in total. 77 cases were cured, 2 cases were effective and 1 case was ineffective. The jaundice disappeared in 15 days on average, the digestive system symptoms disappeared in 3~12 days, hepatomegaly in 72 cases retracted in 14~35 days, liver function and transaminase examination, 79 cases recovered to normal in 10 ~ 30 days. The average length of stay was 23.6 days.
4. Treatment of influenza: 30 grams of verbena, 15 grams of Artemisia annua and 15 grams of notopterygium root, decocted. 1 dose daily, divided into 2 times, or ground into powder and flour to make tea. 51 cases were followed up, 46 cases were cured, 3 cases were effective and 2 cases were ineffective.
6. Treatment of filariasis: Verbena was used as the main treatment, combined with Perilla leaf and Artemisia annua L., 81 filariasis patients with positive blood test but no obvious signs were treated. After 1 course of treatment, the negative conversion rate of microfilaria reached 90%, and the negative conversion rate was 81.4% after 45 days. Verbena 30g, Perilla leaf 15g, Artemisia annua 12g, boiled and concentrated in water to 50- 80ml, 1 dose per day, taken twice in the morning and evening on an empty stomach. For children aged 1~10 years and 11~15 years, the dose is about 1/3 and 2/3 of the total amount of adults, and 10 days are a course of treatment. There were no serious side effects after medication, only a few patients had nausea, dizziness, headache, vomiting and abdominal pain, which could recover by themselves.
7. Treatment of schistosomiasis: It has been reported that verbena is ground into powder or made into pills for oral administration, 3 times a day, 1 pill each time (each pill contains 3 grams of verbena), 8~10 days as a course of treatment, treatment of early and middle schistosomiasis has certain curative effect, some cases stool reexamination negative.
