Gastrodia elata is a perennial herb of the genus Gastrodia of Orchidaceae, which is mainly used as tuber. It is a valuable traditional Chinese medicine listed in Chinese Pharmacopoeia and plays an extremely important role in the long-term best-selling varieties of traditional Chinese medicine in China. Gastrodia elata is suitable for planting in loam or sandy loam, which is moist and permeable, loose and rich in humus. Let's take a look at the planting conditions of Gastrodia elata.

Temperature condition

Temperature is the primary factor affecting the growth of Gastrodia elata. Gastrodia elata likes to grow in cool summer and not very cold in winter, and is sensitive to temperature. High and low temperature will directly affect the growth, yield and quality of Gastrodia elata. The requirement of temperature for the growth and development of Gastrodia elata adapts to the seasonal variation of natural temperature in the producing area. When the temperature began to rise in spring and the ground temperature reached more than 10 ℃ ~ 12 ℃, Gastrodia elata began to sprout and grow after dormancy in winter. When the ground temperature reached more than 15 ℃, the growth of Gastrodia elata became more and more exuberant, and the meristem cells at the tip of seed Ma divided, elongated and enlarged rapidly, forming new tubers of different sizes. Generally, the exuberant period of Gastrodia elata growth is from late May to early September, when the ground temperature is between 20 ℃ ~ 25 ℃. However, when the ground temperature lasted more than 30 ℃ in summer, the growth of Armillaria mellea and Gastrodia elata was inhibited and the "bird head" arrow was produced. Therefore, in the high temperature season, the heat should be prevented and cooled down. When the temperature is lower than 15 ℃ in late autumn and early winter, the growth rate of Gastrodia elata (tuber) slows down and gradually stagnates into overwintering dormancy.

Humidity condition

Gastrodia elata is suitable for growing in rainy and humid climate. Especially in the peak growing season from June to August, Gastrodia elata needs more water, but in late September, more Rain Water, low temperature Gastrodia elata will be harmed by Armillaria mellea. The soil water content in Gastrodia elata producing areas varies greatly according to different soil types and textures. Soil rich in humus has a water content of more than 50%. Higher soil moisture is beneficial to the growth of Gastrodia elata and Armillaria mellea, but the soil moisture is too high, which is easy to cause Gastrodia elata rot.
