On the 23rd, the opening ceremony of the 13th Guangdong Association of Science and Technology academic activity week and Guangdong Science and Technology Association Forum was held in Guangdong Science Museum. Lin Xiong, member of the standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial CPC Committee and minister of the United Front work Department, attended the event. After the opening ceremony, Wang Maohua, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of China Agricultural University, was invited to give an academic report on "prospects for Agricultural Modernization and Wisdom Agriculture." Wang Maohua pointed out that the per capita share of grain in China is higher than the world average, but it is faced with challenges such as "grain prices at home and abroad are upside down" and "serious waste caused by nearly half of the grain used in aquaculture".

Data show that in 2014, the per capita share of grain in China was 445 kg, higher than the world average.

"however, it should be clearly recognized that the foundation of China's food security is still unstable, and there are both opportunities and challenges." Wang Maohua pointed out that one of the important problems is that the international competitiveness of China's agriculture is not strong, and domestic agricultural products are facing severe "price challenges."
